Oldbird
How is that any different then any other government controlled board? I have worked my entire career for a board that has had one member in 24 years that has direct knowledge of what I do. Maybe none. How does it work out for you? WestDanville
Also noted in the article the situation has been pretty much resolved between the state and the Boyle BOE. Tamme is to not have any more involvement in any district hiring processes and is to take a class on the dos and don'ts of being a school board member. Nothing to make a fuss about here. DevilMayCare
Chuck Smith once thought about retirement... retirement subsequently entered the witness protection program. Retirement wants no part of Chuck Smith.
Oldbird
You're a smart guy, you know how it works out. I believe that school boards have in the past been fertile ground for people who care more about elevating their own interests above those of the school district. Adopted Purple
High school football in Kentucky must be in pretty good shape, if this is all they can find wrong!

PurplePride92
Yeah, can't say this one moves the needle on the meter of caring for me. If anything Steve Tamme will be an even more beloved member of Boyle County with this news making the rounds now. The push to get Chuck Smith back to Boyle County was real and intense just like we all suspected.
PurplePride92
I don't think considering the outcomes (Madison, then not) that conversations took place. One read also reveals who among the participants in the car conversation reported this to the KHSAA :idunno: Who was it that revealed the conversations took place? Where can I can find that read at? Bengal Maniac
The active involvement of driving down to meet with him is a pretty blatant disregard of the statute. However, involvement happens quite a bit, usually not this blatant or to this level. The most often avenue would be a board member saying to a Superintendent, I'd really like to see so and so hired for this position. With the board member being your boss, it will get your attention. Wouldn't be surprised if someone from another district where he was supposedly going, fired off the letter to the Office of Educational Accountability. OEA is bound by statute to not reveal who and where the complaint came. Basically I could have done it from here in Covington and they'd have to investigate Not surprised at all this happened. Mr. Tamme received probably the first step process in discipline for this. It's not right in my opinion, but there are bigger fish to fry in Kentucky's Educational future.
