I agree. That scrimmage means nothing now. Besides, Simon Kenton is a very good football team. No shame losing to them, especially a scrimmage.

I would disagree that X took BG to the woodshed last year. Although X won by a convincing margin on the scoreboard in 2015, BG actually out gained the Tigers by almost 300 yards. It was a couple of untimely turnovers by the Purples and a couple of special teams plays that doomed them on the scoreboard.

Its X week. Purple fans, coaches and players know that we are facing a class act program, in St X. Winning 4 out of last 5 for Purples is pretty impressive. Not many teams (very few, if any PUBLIC schools can do that) has done that.

 

Good news for St X: No Purple with the last name of Fant or Hayes is playing Friday night.

 

Bad news for St X: Purples with the last name Caruthers, Wilson, Payne and Kenner are playing Friday night.

 

Arguably the very best offensive unit in Purples history (Ill have some haters with that statement, but check the stats at years end before you throw tomatoes at me) will take the field Friday night. Huge O line with a QB that may be one of the most accurate in the state throwing to a handful of crazy good receivers along with who I feel is one of the leading candidates for Mr Football in Jamale Caruthers makes for a pretty good recipe of some offensive power.

 

Last year Purples Special Team collapse with a defense that couldnt stop the run on that one night gave us our 3rd loss since November of 2010.

 

This years special teams unit has done very well and I think that our Dline is a top 3 dline in the state this year. I know the Purples can lose but it would really suprise me to see a team run the ball against them and win. I dont see BG scoring less than 40 all year. I see BG scoring 40 by the half in all other regular season games after St X week.

 

Should be a great game.

 

Purples win. Not sure how many X will score but BG scores in mid 40s. I dont see anyone (especially a run happy team) scoring 40 against them.

Out gained X by 300 yards? St. X yards were 364 compared to 382 for BG. LOL. That doesn't count all the return yards X put on them. I know X had a 99 yard return and a 67 yard return, both for TD's. Halftime was 31-6, ended 45-19. 45 points. Courier journal called it a stomping. I would call that a woodshed beating. I guess X lost a lot because everyone acts like they don't have a chance. Maybe that's the case.

It won't be a blowout. X will bring their A game.

He was listed as "OUT" on the Participation List for the Christian County game. Not sure if that means he's injured or just not participating right now.

 

He has played in the scrimmages and caught some nice balls, but it's alot to ask to learn an entire playbook in about 3 months when you haven't been playing since you were a kid. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Thanks for the update. I agree it is a huge task especially at the level BG is playing at. Hopefully he can work his way onto the field at some point.
