Out gained X by 300 yards? St. X yards were 364 compared to 382 for BG. LOL. That doesn't count all the return yards X put on them. I know X had a 99 yard return and a 67 yard return, both for TD's. Halftime was 31-6, ended 45-19. 45 points. Courier journal called it a stomping. I would call that a woodshed beating. I guess X lost a lot because everyone acts like they don't have a chance. Maybe that's the case.

 

X won that game handily. BG didn't warm up well and opening kick Roshkowski takes it basically 100 yards. BG D doesn't play well in the first 2 quarters and St X played extremely well. In the second half BG scored first, but then Roshkowski took a punt about 70 yards to squelch any momentum BG was trying to build on out of the locker room and X won comfortably from there. Another big thing that game is that the St X D did not give up any big plays. Will that be the same on Friday night? We shall see. I look for BG to win, but not by a ton and I look for St X D to play very well. But I don't think the St X O can just run it all over the BG D either; they will have to be more creative than they were against Lex Cath.

For X to win they have to have similar performance as last year, create turnovers and be very productive on special teams.

 

In '12 X had a great first half until their starting QB got knocked out of the game and they become VERY predictable in running the ball with Austin Davis and Charles Walker. X has to be balanced or the BG defense will tee off on them.

 

With all that being said, I just don't know about the X defense. BG is too good for the X defense to be lined up incorrectly or unsound.

BG by 14 X isn't very good.

 

HAHAHA!! Solid facts right here, has to be a SK fan who still believes X took the scrimmage as a W/L game. Not sure what the definition of not good is, but I would certainly not consider X "not very good". Huge O line, heck of a running back, improving secondary, D1 level QB, and depth at all 4 of those positions. But yeah I guess you're right, they aren’t very good . :ohbrother:

How has Kyran Jones for BG been doing? I haven't seen his name yet this season.

 

A basketball coach had him in the gym on the Sunday after the Rafferty's Bowl and he has been in a boot with a badly sprained ankle since than point. I guess you could say that he or his bball coaches did not have football as any sort of priority. BGHS has a very good TE in Garrett Strickler.

Not sure if you were able to see any or all of the game, but the Tigers lined up in the same formation and ran the same play with 4 options for Albers each time. Those options being a pass, hand off to the rb, hand off to the slot WR in motion, or QB draw which they scored on to put the game away. I would like to see X open up the playbook a little this week. From what I'm seeing and little that I know, BG is a heck of a team and I don't see that getting the job done. The thing that bothered me the most was bringing the slot wr across the middle and then handing the ball to the RB and the fact it brought another defensive player into the box that was already packed and those plays never seemed to gain much yards. I understand about the trickery aspect, but it was not working. That being said I look forward to rewatching the game and seeing if there was anything that I missed from where I was standing Friday.

BG is set up for a very special year however X is still X and this will be a great game. I like BG 28-17 with them pulling it out late.

The 4 BG wins ('11, '12, '13, '14) came by 8, 7, 14, and 6 points in OT. If the '11 & '13 teams did not win in blowouts, no reason to expect it to happen in '16. St X dominated BGHS last season in what can only be described as a total systems failure for the Purples. Turnovers on offense, allowing huge plays on defense, and a special teams effort that was simply abysmal. All the talk about yards gained is usually talk for those that lost. At the end the night, 45-19 is what went down in the books. The worst loss for BGHS since 2005. That's a lot of ground to make up in one season.

Bart Bruner the X defensive coach doesn't allow people to line up incorrectly or unsound. They will start 11 seniors and play very hard.

Bowling Green will win this game, but in a closer match than many are anticipating!

Yes it is, Hellbird. It should be the toughest game of their season. I don't think anyone in 5A can beat them. It is such a weak class this year.

how big are St X corners? they will have to play over the top on all bubble screens meaning corners have to play less than 3yards off the ball and fight over blocks of WRs if Dangelo and Curuathers or Kenner get space it will a long day .make BG sustain long drives something they don't do well
