July 9, 201610 yr You probably loathe the song for the same verse that makes me absolutely love it. There is a story that is long, so I will try and shorten it. While doing consulting work in Jackson, MS in 2006, the lovely lady would join me on long weekends. On one of those weekends we took a cruise out of Mobile. Of the 2500 passengers, 2498 of them were on the Alabama Alumni/Booster Club Cruise with coaches, players (wonder how they could afford that), and key staff. They literally played "Sweet Home Alabama" hundreds of times and they ALL sang and did their, whatever they do, stuff. We got to Kingston, Jamaica and we decided to go to some reggae bar to here something different and just get away from them. In walked a bunch of Alabama folk and they switched from reggae to "Sweet Home Alabama". Just awful and that is why!
July 9, 201610 yr If by clunker you mean another classic song from a great album, I agree. Otherwise, I'm going to question your sanity.:wideyed: Does nothing for me. The rest of IV is golden.
July 9, 201610 yr You probably loathe the song for the same verse that makes me absolutely love it. "Watergate does not bother me." Didn't care if I never heard another note of a Skynyrd song after that.
July 10, 201610 yr I don't ever need to hear "A Man Needs A Maid" by Neil Young again. "Harvest" is amazing. That song is horrible.
July 10, 201610 yr "Watergate does not bother me." Didn't care if I never heard another note of a Skynyrd song after that. Too bad as they had tons of great tunes beyond that. The bigger sin was carrying on after Ronnie died. They went from being a great protest band to some other kind of abortion.
July 10, 201610 yr Never been a fan of "Beast Of Burden" by the Stones... Man....that's probably in my top 5 songs by the Rolling Stones.
July 10, 201610 yr Zeppelin's "Stairway To Heaven" Now I know why you're "On the Island". That's just sacrilegious! :lol2:
July 10, 201610 yr Now I know why you're "On the Island". That's just sacrilegious! :lol2: I've had surprised looks from people before when I've commented about that song  :lol2:
July 13, 201610 yr From some of my favorite bands: Maxwell's Silver Hammer from Beatles, Behind Blue Eyes from The Who, Dancing In The Street from VH, Dancin in The Dark by Bruce and from a group I used to like but am so sick of hearing same songs on radio, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen
July 13, 201610 yr I love the beastie boys as well. Girls is the song I detest, with intergalactic a close second.
July 13, 201610 yr I was never exactly in love with the Jefferson Airplane or Starship aside from a few songs here and there (White Rabbit for sure), but I absolutely cannot stand "We Built This City". The lyrics make little sense, not to mention that it's just downright corny. Peter, Paul, and Mary were putting out most of their hits when I was a mere toddler, and it's safe to say that their material translated pretty well to 3 and 4 year olds, but one song of theirs that I just could never stand was "I Dig Rock and Roll Music". Though I came to find out years later that it was actually their attempt at satire, no matter what it just comes across as so incredibly dorky.
