June 14, 201610 yr Not this American. Come on cap, you and I see eye to eye on a lot of issues, but SURELY armed military personnel walking around locked and loaded at Wal-Mart, the airport or a busy intersection isn't what you would want to see. if it ever got to that point, then we have almost assuredly "lost the game".
June 14, 201610 yr Caesar declared am end to the Roman Republic when he crossed the Rubicon with his army still intact. Here, the Rubicon is represented by the Constitution. The Constitution does not 'grant' rights or capabilities to the People from the government. The Constitution limits the government from infringing on already existing rights of the people. An every constant question to ask - "When has Rubicon been crossed?"
June 14, 201610 yr @oldgrappler , Man, you get a lot done with your posts :jump: I don't disagree we have moral issues, but it may take decades to make those changes. Seems we need to find some more solutions that may make a difference today. The next time some hate filled nut decides to kill a bunch of innocent people. haha
June 14, 201610 yr True, it was not. Would the gun he used fall under the same classification: would this be the Dodge Challenger To the AR-15 Ford Mustang?
June 14, 201610 yr And it would get very, very bloody for the Government I believe if they thought they could just walk up to Joe Citizen's door and start taking guns. Would they eventually win? Sure, after all average Joe Citizen can't wield a .50 cal on his truck, roll a tank down the street or call in an Apache copter strike. However...guess who would have/get guns once all was settled down? You guessed it, the only ones who shouldn't have them to begin with and the ones who should be the only ones the government took guns away from...the criminals themselves. Again, as I said earlier, if a majority of Americans voted to repeal the 2nd Amendment then gun owners would then be criminals. Huge hypothetical situation that isn't likely, but some fantasize about defending the homestead kind of like those fellers in the Oregon bird lodge, but like then the govt. would only tolerate you so long. Reality is this: guns don't make you free. I'm not certain they even make us safer. Well, Maybe my demographic...hmmm
June 14, 201610 yr If the Orlando murders were committed using a car bomb, would you propose a ban on cars? In your example it would not be the legal car that was the tool used to kill people but the already illegal bomb. To make a like comparison either a gun would have to be mounted to the car and used to shoot people or a car used to run over 100 people.

An every constant question to ask - "When has Rubicon been crossed?" Way too many people do not understand this.

Eventually RW II will have to happen.

I'm saying unless we fight them over there, this is what we may indeed need to get used to. We are losing the game. PC has handicapped this nation as well as the lead from behind mentality of this administration.
June 14, 201610 yr So the answer is we have what have, do your best America...? We can't make them safer; we won't try harder to keep them out of the hands of criminals; in fact we hope to continue to mass produce them at a high rate so there will be more and more in the wrong hands. That seems like a defeatist attitude to me. LB, FWIW, I believe in freedom, but I don't believe to be free you have to be armed. You may want to go back and bone up on what Memorial Day is for.
June 14, 201610 yr If we repeal the 2nd Amendment, then that only opens the doors to repealing every single Amendment. We already live in a PC world, let's not start making it worse than it already is.

To make a like comparison either a gun would have to be mounted to the car and used to shoot people or a car used to run over 100 people. The gun didn't kill people either. The bullet actually killed people. The gun was used to project it. Just like a car was used to project the bomb.
June 14, 201610 yr The gun didn't kill people either. The bullet actually killed people. The gun was used to project it. Just like a car was used to project the bomb. A bullet is useless without a gun and vice versa. A bomb is dangerous on its own. In your scenario we may as well ban people since a lot of bombings are carried out via suicide vest.
June 14, 201610 yr Actually a finger pulled the trigger, the finger which was directed by the brain did it. Thus proving the person did the killing, it's just the tool that gets the blame.
