June 11, 201610 yr Is it only me? These old eyes always got excited at playoff times, expecting to see the top players compete for the championship. But, the refs are basically allowing on and offball muggings to take place repeatedly with a "no blood, no foul" approach. Understand a modest amount of letting the players decide the game; but, what we are seeing this year resembles spectacular basketball with a whole lot of hockey and UFC mixed in. Just saying, I don't like it at all and the refs swallowing their whistles approach makes the calls they do decide to make have a disproportionate impact on the game. Don't like this distortion of the game.

June 11, 201610 yr Yeah I posted the same thing on my FB page , and at the same time another friend of mine noted how it was like a pickup game where very few rules apply . Turns it into TERRIBLE basketball. It looked like the players picked up on it about 3Q , and started pushing it , to see how much they could get away with .
June 11, 201610 yr Watched the nba for many years, and its never been like this. Crazy amount of physical contact not being called. The nba has lost credibility in the playoffs for thish fan. This is not entertaining to watch. The officials have struggled maybe worse than I can remember. The out of bounds on the cavs when it clearly went off GS, proven with a camera shot right over the refs shoulder. The nba should be embarrassed , you can't miss that call at that level.
June 11, 201610 yr Actually the NBA in the 90's was always like this. The Knicks and Pistons basically beat up every team they played and hand checking and holding were permitted for the most part. Then the NBA changed the way the games are called for the most part. Last night was like going back in time. Refs were NOT good. My guess is that game 5 will be called much tighter.
June 11, 201610 yr Game 3 the announcers call it good defense " quote it would be called foul in the regular season but this is the play offs" close .... Cavs won that what was said; by the announcers. Game 4 same announcers refs missing calls and letting fouls go that should be called!! Announcer admit about the calls!! Cavs killed a GS player and it was called a flop !! It was clearly a tackle !! Oh GS it favored GS and won that's why their opinion changed!! NBA refs are a joke to be the best !!! The anti GS and Curry, people are tore up !!! That a small frame 6' 1 3/4 shooting guard can be the league MVP and lead his team to the NBA finals!!

June 13, 201610 yr I agree that the intensity of the defensive efforts should increase in the playoffs- guys should just play harder. However, should not impact the officiating at all. I'm not a Curry guy but that dude gets fouled EVERY single trip down the floor, with the ball or away from it. He get held, pushed, chipped, etc. every trip.
June 14, 201610 yr I agree these playoffs have been ridiculously physical. I usually like physical basketball but this is over the edge. I have seen numerous obvious fouls while a player is shooting that are not being called and I can never remember that happening. They always call fouls that happen in the act of shooting. I don't think this type of officiating favors anybody. I have seen Curry play defense with a bear hug and nothing gets called on him. Kevin Love did a nice box out and a player comes over his back gives him a concussion and there is no call on the play. If you continue to let everything go then you are going to see more players get hurt and doing barrel rolls into each other's knees like we saw on Bogut last night.
June 14, 201610 yr What I have a problem with more than the physical play is officials waiting until after the shot is missed to call the foul. Happened on a Klay 3 last night and there seems to have been another play but it escapes me.
