Jenna Martin Transferring To Highlands

Featured Replies

So are you saying there is some non basketball related reason for the transfer? Or are you just saying the Martins are good people? Cause I don't think anyone was saying derogatory things about the parents or Jenna. Your have a very condescending tone when the title of the thread is asking people to discuss why she's transferring. Maybe you should take your high values to the moderator and have it out with then for creating the thread?

You don't think the comment that they seem hard to handle for any program is derogatory to Jenna or the parents? You are correct I dont think this needs it's own thread. Your assumption of my tone would be correct.

I will give you that that particular comment was borderline, however my opinion is that his qualifying comment "I don't know the Martins" was meant to say that he's not judging their character, just this situation (or the constant switching schools situation). Everyone else's comments are good and are doing exactly what this thread is meant to do.

Furthermore, if your child or someone you know well is good at sports you should understand that people are going to discuss your child. That's an unfortunate consequence of being good. Imagine what star athletes go through. Instead of being bitter I would encourage you to see it as a positive thing. How many girls basketball players get their own thread with multiple pages of discussion? Take it as a compliment abour how good she is. If she wasn't one of the best players in nky no one would care.

I for one would definitely like to know why she is going to highlands? If there is some noble non basketball reason please share. I also would like to know how she is able to legally transfer under KHSAA rules too. I'm not saying it's illegal, I just would like to know.

Watch the shots at one another.

This thread is about what is known regarding Jenna Martin's previous transfer, and pending transfer. I would suggest that everyone take a look at the BGP Rules if they aren't sure what is and what isn't okay in this thread.

Did Martin play for Coach Levandusky? Could this be about 3 coaching changes in 4 years?

No.

From afar this seems like a terrible high school experience.

I'm with you Clyde. I know of and hear about families all the time who delay a move or take extraordinary measures so their child can finish their senior year at "their" high school with their friends. That seems to be the opposite of what we are seeing in this situation. That doesn't seem like a good high school experience to me either.

Having dealt with the KHSAA and transfer / eligibility rules I have to believe there are extreme circumstances involved in this one.

I can also say that, from my experience, the KHSAA imposes rigid guidelines in even what would appear to be the most obvious cases.

I do not think the KHSAA takes transfers lightly.

I do believe that most outside observers, that have never dealt with KHSAA or a transfer, have any idea how difficult it is to "prove" eligibility in the case of transfers.

Think of all the new friends she has met! Only issue is what hat to wear when she goes into the hall of fame? Hope this one works out for her. Nothing worse than seeing a kid that is not happy.

No, She transferred from Grant due to her affiliation with the Shining Stars and/or Foust who was her only coach while at NDA.

Not doubting you, but there seems to be more transfers than ever now. When kids move in with Coaches and become eligible, it sure seems like a move just for Athletics.

Is this young lady a difference maker at Highlands? What are her per game averages from her last season?

She is a difference maker wherever she plays. 100% effort ALL of the time. Very quick and fast, tenacious defender, high basketball IQ.

Wish her the best. I will be rooting for her every game and for her team if they win the region and are representing the ninth at state.

Good luck to Jenna with whatever decision is made. How long could it take them to making a ruling?

I believe she's playing in the team camp today with HHS. And I know for sure that the HHS coaches would not even think about playing her if it wasn't cleared or they hadn't received approval from the HHS executive administration that it was okay to proceed.

Oh we thought she transferred for academics?
