I will say that the administration does not know if a kid is coming to Highlands for athletic reasons versus academic reasons. Heck they do not even know half of what goes on in their athletic programs.

If you say so.

BTW aren't coaches part of the administration, just asking?

I love your loyalty to your school I really do but you can't tell me in every case that an administrator doesn't know if a kid is a good athlete or not. As for a coach not talking to a player well I'll leave that alone because I know better and have facts on that.

I have no idea if they knew she was a bball player or not. I said "I don't know how they would know". I can tell you will all honesty that Jaime had no idea she was even coming til lat in the process. Jaime doesn't get caught up in rumors. She's a "I'll believe it when I see it" type of person. So it wouldn't have been Jaime prepping any of the administrators! I can promise you that.

As far as conversations...there are no facts. I can tell you that ANY coach (this situation included) has told any player or parent that they cannot talk to them about their program until their kid is enrolled. What people see is converstations and ASSUME what's being said. But they don't realize there may be previous relationships there OR just maybe that coach they are talking to coached that person's older daughter in the past. But I can promise you the facts are "I cannot talk to you about that subject until your daughter is enrolled at Highlands" would have and been part of that conversation if it came up. That's the facts! Do people talk, sure. What is said is the key. I know what was said. Everyone is trying to get HHS. We expect it. Thats why we are told to follow such stringent processes when it comes to this stuff.

And how soon you forget...didn't NCC just get a transfer last year that starts for them? HHS hasn't had a transfer in girls bball in 10 years!!!

As for your inquiry about your daughter, I did forget to mention. You could have been told they weren't accepting any tuition student at the time. It all depends on when you called as well. There is an open enrollment window for students that wish to apply. If you are outside that window (timeframe), there is a chance you would get told "we are not accepting applications at this time" The window is not opened very long (because they get flooded with applications) and outside of that window, I'm sure that's the answer you'd get.

Oh come on, we hear that all the time. Share your "facts"

Agreed, do you know how many times we've heard that?

No not when it comes to determining if there is any room for a kid to transfer in.

Agreed, do you know how many times we've heard that?

I am just glad that I was able to get that P.O. Box rented out.

When we talk about administration, we are talking principal and above. The AD will work though the principal to let us know when we are "okay" to have any discussions with an incoming player. Until then, you get the canned speech that I described earlier. Like I've said before, kids coming from southgate and private schools that come as freshman aren't allowed to practice in the summer for fall sports until they are 100% enrolled. We've had kids sit out of football practice until all the documents are signed. And these are kids that are 100% coming as freshman, but just haven't completed their enrollment. This is not new. HHS is very stringent on their internal rules and what you can and can't say to kids outside your district. Again, people have been trying to catch them for years. They have to keep the process buttoned up or they would continue to be in trouble.

Thats why when HHS people hear "Well I know a guy who had a son and this is what happened" or "I have facts", we just giggle. We've heard that a 1000 times.

Is it possible for someone to slip up...absolutely. But the fact that people have been trying very hard for years to "get HHS" and you never hear anything should tell you the process is followed very closely by HHS coaches. Again, we are told to expect every conversation to be a "test" and that someone is out to trap you.

I can show you very good athletes that have been turned down or put on a waiting list. Including a kid that would help my program exponentially with what we lose in one of our departing seniors. But if they ask me about it, I will tell them to talk to the principal or admissions. I cannot speak about it. Heck, I have long time good friends that will ask and I have to tell them, I can't talk to you about that subject.

Did yours stay in the secret dorms below the fieldhouse?

Not saying Jamie said anything to her not saying that at all but someone knew it was happening prier to her enrollment. Look you can twist it all you want and I again like your loyalty and a lot of what you say makes sense but this is reality and your not going to tell me that no one knew before she enrolled. Come on you have jumped all over the Holy Cross situation which is somewhat similar but now that its HHS its a lot different.

My understanding about the transfer that's at NCC is she lives with her grandma in Newport and isn't a Jenna Martin.

As for contacting the school it was about 3 weeks ago.

Not hating on the HHS I have friends that went there and like the school. We won't talk about the Mitchell kid.

Gabel from where?

Meant Grabel not sure how its spelled.
