Jenna Martin Transferring To Highlands

Featured Replies

I don't care where anyone goes to school. But the best part about this thread is RC99 and CAP were tag team partners in the HC thread a few months back. Now they are at odds on a similar topic.

A general observation it's very interesting.

Oh no! Not the HC thread. Didn't that go on forever?

I believe I have remained the same on both threads. LOL

And so have I! The only thing we are debating whether it was a transfer for sport reason only.

We are still united on that other topic.

Just a reminder...nothing wrong with transfers. It's "how" they got there that can be the issue!!!

Does it really matter how they get there? Or why they transfer? Maybe they like the other teams school colors better.... Who cares. The only opinion/ approval that matters is the KHSAA.

It matters "how" if the "how" is recruiting from a program. So yes, "how" matters a lot!

But you're right, if the kid or a family chooses to go their without influence from the program, then I don't care how many transfers a school has! Now that would kinda stink for the kids that grew up in that district, but it's within the rules and I wouldn't have a thing to say about it really...well not a sure that's true! Lol!

Understand what your saying. So why did she transfer because she moved to Ft. Thomas, I think we all know that answer.

You tell us why she transferred to a school that lost a ton of talent this year, is not the top team this year (or would have been even close) and left a team that would have been ranked higher than HHS had she not left? Transferring to HHS for bball only in this year makes no sense to me. It's obvious there were other reasons. Did she just want out of ND. Maybe? (yes). Why she chose HHS is her business. But again, she left a team that I feel would have been better than HHS this year. Why not just stay? ...because there were other reasons for transferring!!!! She could have chosen any school and she happened to choose HHS...btw a school that hasn't had a transfer in 10 years! I know there is one coach that is very unhappy she didn't choose his school and you wouldn't have to look very far to find him!

Hmmmm...is that what this is about?

You can twist it how you want but her going there makes them a legitimate contender and you cannot deny that. HHS may have lost some keys players but they have a lot returning who got a lot of playing time, also and you said yourself the region will be down so yes why not HHS.

The reason and you know it is because the coach is gone and he is a major influence on her and has some good buddies and I will leave it at that. It doesn't matter that HHS hasn't had a transfer in 10 years they have the best point guard I the region now. She isn't there for Academics because the last time I checked ND was pretty darn good in that department and it also wasn't because she was treated bad, so put it how ever you want to make it sound perfectly fine.

My issue with it all is it continues to happen a lot and it just seems to be getting worse and the KHSAA doesn't put any effort into any of it. I don't think you teach the kids in high school anything by letting it go on. if things don't go the way they want they think they can just transfer with ramifications. I understand there are situations where its legit but in many cases it isn't and we all know that and if you think otherwise you are only kidding yourself.

How do you know(for a fact) that this isn't one of those situations? I've read this whole thread the only thing I've seen is a lot of perceptions and assumptions.

You seem very bitter about this transfer. Surely you don't think Highlands in anyway shape or form reached out and initiated any kind of conversation about transferring? If not, then the reason for her transfer is between her, her parents and the KHSAA(if she wants to play bball her senior year).

If she has already been approved to be a tuition student (and I'm not sure if she is or she's moving into district) she and her family must have applied in March as the school met on or around April 1 to approve tuition students. There is no other meeting after April 1 until the summer if needed.

Not bitter at all just want things to be right its happening all over. I have said this before she is transferring because of basketball and if so fine but some need to stop thinking its for another reason, no one says its against the rules if that's your reason and I agree with RCC its how you do it.

We all know she didn't apply in March.

I'm not saying I disagree with your thoughts, but NCC just had a transfer and you justify it as being okay because her Gma lives in Newport. But couldn't her reason for transferring be exactly the same as Martin's.

And I haven't denied that Martin makes HHS a contender now. I said that if she would have stayed, they would be better than HHS. So just like you say, "why transfer for academics" I say "why transfer for bball". Academics are probably a push. BBall, ND was probably better this upcoming year.

HHS has a lot of role players coming back and a sophomore class that is very good. But they are unproven (other than Barth) at the varsity level without having kids to take on the bulk of the attention. Even Barth benefited from having Adler, Leigh and Coffey on the floor. Now they are gone and the focus turns to others. So you say, "they have a lot returning". I say "I'll believe it when I see it!" And I still have a daughter in the program! My hope is they can step up and make a run. But I'm just not 100% sure they would have this year. With Martin, it sure makes that transition year a little easier.

She is approved (as a tuition student) and enrolled...or she wouldn't be playing in the summer with HHS. She got in before is closed.

No argument. I'm saying she new early she was coming. Season ended in March and she had her application in before April 1.
