$124 per ticket, lower arena, for the entire tournament.

Per session which is 2 games.

I don't like seeding as I think the randomness of the tourney is part of what makes it great. I don't think the perceived "Best" teams should get a cake walk to semis while teams perceived to be of "Lesser" quality have to face a gauntlet to get to semis.

Bottom line on attendance as mentioned earlier, fewer and fewer fans are taking time off from work to go to the Sweet 16 if "Their" team isn't playing.

Competing with Conference or NCAA tourney doesn't help either.

Does All A tourney keep smaller school fans away because they see that as "their" tourney and won't go as a spectator to the Sweet a Sixteen?

I applaud the formation of the committee. I hope the committee will elicit input from members of this forum so that they can hear the thoughts of so many to whom the state tournament has meant so much.

I just don't think many fans go to either unless "Their" team is in it. I used to know of a dozen or so people that went every year, regardless of who was in it. Now I just know of one family that does that.

I don't think the All A has any bearing on it.

Kentucky isn't the high school basketball crazy state it once was. Other sports and interests have taken over. One previous post was right about attendance in general. Big local games or district games that were sold out 20-30 years ago on a Tuesday or Friday night now have half full gyms. Most of those same schools though will be standing room only for Friday night football.

The resurrection of UK basketball in the SEC and NCAA tourney has many folks spending their money on the Cats vs the Sweet 16. I know many locals that went to the Sweet 16 every year that don't anymore but they will go to the SEC tourney.

I was listening in on a discussion in the Hyatt lobby at the state tourney and three KHSAA Board of Control members were in the group. They mentioned that there's a good possibility that ticket prices will increase next year to the upper $130's range.

Increases like that definitely will not help their attendance situation.

They usually go up .50 a session almost every year.

So it appears over the time span you have listed there's not much of a factor in who starts the tournament on Wednesday and who starts on Thursday in who wins the championship, or which winning team in the semis have the longest time to rest before the second Saturday game. That surprises me somewhat.

Doesn't surprise me at all in a random draw. They're 17 year-olds who (should) work harder in practice and play more games in the same number of days on the AAU circuit. Young legs.

That's not terrible. But add in 4 nights' lodging (unless you can commute), 5 days' meals, and the cost for a family is more than a lot of folks can probably stand.

Exactly, KHSAA has a problem with the state tourney attendance and someone in the meeting jumps up and says, "I think we need to raise ticket prices". What you think?

They have been 124 for a few years I believe.
