Never said you would but you're championing this issue like it's very near and dear to your heart. I would like you to see the effect first hand it would have on your family and the people around you whom you try to go into the bathroom with. The look on kids faces. If it's not such a big deal then why not. The lesson is you won't do it, so don't force it down everyone else throat.

 

You mean the same looks on people's faces when they'd see me at a restaurant, the snickers and jeers...possibly even violence...things (and as you put it, the nastiness) transgender and other minorities face every day. Like when a transgender person is dehumanized to the point when they can't even take a leak in any public restroom. Or when trying to be understanding and show kindness to others get you labeled as a bad parent and a danger to society.

Yes, it would be awful, and horrible. And it would be just as bad if my child was victimized by a perp using the correct bathroom...or victimized by a priest on a church youth trip, or a teacher in school, a neighbor in the backyard, a coach of a traveling youth team on a road trip....all events that are far more likely, and commonly do happen. Situations that we put our kids in every day without a second thought, concern or worry. And none of us send our kids into public restrooms alone or at least without us right outside the door, but yet we endlessly worry about them getting attacked by a cross dressing boogeyman despite us being either right outside the stall or door of the bathroom while they are using it.

 

We are scared of and obsessing over the "boogeyman" (who may or may not exist) Which is why crimes against children continue to happen right under our noses committed by people we trust the most.

 

I can't add anymore to this discussion, which is getting less and less discussion like.

What's wrong with using the restroom you have the plumbing for? I could give a rat's behind what you "identify" as.

 

If a person identified as a dog, should they be able to use the facilities on the lawn? Granted, that's an extreme example but one that could be presented in today's society.

 

I'm a live and let live kinda guy. As long as you are a consenting adult and aren't harming me or mine, or doing something illegal, knock yourself out. I'm in favor of separate facilities for transgenders. There are some things children should not have to deal with.

You're absolutely right which is why I can't believe that we have come to a point as a society that we even need to have this discussion. If you have a penis you should pee in a men's room, period, end of discussion. If the left hand't tried to change that common sense guideline none of these laws would have been necessary.

Right. We don't need laws, especially ones that invade privacy, or require you to show ID to take a pee. We are trying to fix a system that has worked just fine. Transgenders have used the facility they identify with since there have been public restrooms. Now we're worried about cross dressing peeping toms, abusing our daughters (while we seem to have no issue with same sex peeping Toms sharing facilities with our sons). As far as schools and locker rooms, we can maintain privacy by simply providing reasonable accommodations for transgenders or those who wish to have more privacy.

Department of Education says your little boy can go pee with someone elses little girl, and if the school doesnt allow it, they will pull all federal funds from them.

If people in the past have not abided by this so be it, nothing can be done about that. This has been my whole point. How to you define transgender ? Legally by this ruling how can you keep any boy from the girls locker room? Young boys are pervs , I was one I should know.
