Bathroom Wars: Whose side you got?

You're no moron so you know there is an inherent risk when you are in public. Anything can happen, so let's not be stupid enough to make the public environment less safe by removing what little safeguards there are. And would that guy bother me, what do you think his last words would be? I'll say please god no, I'm sorry.

Again, the whole point I've been trying to make is we are creating a problem that doesn't exist. Guys aren't dressing up to get in the ladies room now to commit crimes. And Joe Sex Offender isn't just going to just simply follow a girl into the ladies room, commit a crime and then claim all is ok because he has a right to be in there.

This is simply about understanding that being transgender is a legitimate, psychologically recognized status that affects less than 1% of the population , and giving them the same rights that everyone else has. Period. The violence you so casually speak about, is the sort of things those folks face every day, sometimes when using the restroom WE want them to use.

And if you understand that 90+% of all sex crimes are committed by someone the victim knows, the idea of a stranger randomly committing a crime in a public bathroom he's not welcome in, is unbelievably remote, especially if parents are careful and aware.

You don't create the opportunity to do so. Why is that so hard to understand. I really hope you don't have children. According to you the 10% remaing victims are just casualties of the game of pc because .00001% want to be in the wrong bathroom giving the 10% of perpetrators unfeathered access to stalk their victims. That's your argument in a nut shell.

My argument is that the situation for all of these bad things to occur, currently exists, laws or no laws. There is nothing that would stop a person from following a kid into either restroom as the laws are currently written. I hate to bring it up, but its just like the gun argument. Just like gun laws don't stop bad guys from getting guns, "bathroom" laws don't keep people out of the "wrong" restroom. If someone who is so inclined, sees an opportunity, they may just take it. That's why part of our jobs as parents is to be aware of our surroundings. An attentive parent prevents this type of crime from happening almost all of the time.

And I'm sorry to disappoint you, but yes I have children....3 of them, one of which is a daughter. Two doing very well in college, which is mostly paid for through their academic achievements, and one doing very well in high school, on the same path as the other two. I don't fear these situations, because I am an attentive parent.

But poeple are trying to make it legal to be in that situation, at least now they have to sneak and evade. You want to let them just walk in. It's stupid.

But you won't just be able to walk in. Picture the situation. Some dude hanging around a public ladies room for extended periods of time, suddenly decides to walk in after a little kid walks in. That's not going to attract attention?? Then he'll have to commit the crime, avoid detection while in the restroom, and avoid detection upon leaving. It's easier to rob a bank.

I get the arguement. Lets abolish laws because people will just disobey them anyway. Drunk driving, no problem, murder, go ahead. Why have laws, it still happens anyway. A man walking into a womens bathroom and exposes himself to her, hey he's just peeing. You can't say anything, YOU let him in there!!!! You can't fix stupid.

You're inclination to be ok with this whether you're attentive or wether you're intentions are good or misguided puts you're, mine, and everyones children at risk. You should not give access to areas of personal space. This isn't about transgenderes, its it's about the one or two pedophiles who will use this to legally gain access to somewhere they ordinarily wouldn't. If even one child is raped, has genitals exposed to them it's on your and people like your's heads. But hey your statistics say it wont happen to you're kids, just maybe someone else's. Good looking out. Good call, thanks. You're one heck of a neighbour.

Yes, the statistics say it's not happening now (unless you're in a locker room or bathroom and you are attacked by someone of the same sex), despite the fact that there's nothing currently in place to stop it. That's what baffles me about this argument. How does any law prevent someone from walking in the wrong bathroom? if they want to commit a crime they are going to do it regardless of what the sign on the door says?? And why do we ignore or not worry about the possibility of these sorts of crimes being committed by the same sex using the correct bathroom??

And as far as me being a good neighbor...I'll look out for and protect any kids in my care, under my watch, using whatever means necessary. My current neighbors, friends and anyone who knows me would attest to that.

It doesn't happen now because people notice a member of the opposite sex entering in the wrong bathroom and objections occur. As it becomes commonplace and people get complacent with the sight it will be easier to stalk or attack or expose the loophole. I'm done. Let me know when your girl is using the restroom so I can share it with her. I'm just a dad not a pedophile so its ok right. Answer that honestly.

Honestly....ladies public restrooms all have stalls, right?? I don't know that anyone is seeing anyone else's junk in any public restroom.

Your argument is based on the assumption that men will just simply start flooding into the ladies room. Men are not, and will never be welcome in the ladies room, especially if they are just creeping around. And your argument ignores same sex peeping and crimes that currently can happen, especially in men's locker rooms. Remember Jerry Sandusky??

This quote from a rape victim days it all.

"I am not saying that transgender people are predators. Not by a long shot. What I am saying is that there are countless deviant men in this world who will pretend to be transgender as a means of gaining access to the people they want to exploit, namely women and children. It already happens."

Attacks in bathrooms don't happen now because the deviant men don't currently go in there. So of course skewed statisticts don't support the argument against it. Common sense does.

My guess - and it's purely a guess - is that more deviant men prey on women and children (girls AND boys) in bathrooms than do transgenders.

Which is why you cant allow men in the bathroom. It's not hard to understand.
