When the security, saftey and privacy of your family is in play its not about civil rights.

To even think that perverts won't take advantage of this law is naive and stupid. It's already happened.

IMVHO people that support these laws support pedophiles and perverts.

You go into a bathroom based on what is between your legs.

My company had a person converting from man to woman. While he was still in the transitional phase (some one said they have to dress the part for a year? ) they had to set up a non gender (if that's even a term) rest room. Of course my company is based in LA.

To paraphrase a lot of the same people that favor these so called "protections".

If laws requiring people to use restrooms based on their anatomical gender will protect even 1 child from potentially being victimized...

And for what it's worth I have no issues with gender neutral facilities as long as there are options for gender specific facilities.

Yet someone has to pay for these facilities. That's the part I don't like.

While it wouldn't bother me any to see someone of the opposite sex in the bathroom, I feel public restrooms should be males in one, females in another.

If you're a transgender, I feel you should use the one you were born as, until you've had any gender reassignment surgery. If you've had the surgery, then you use the one you identify with after the surgery.

This issue is a case where society is being asked to make a radical change for a very, very small percentage of people. It has issues for sure.

University of Toronto found out.

And, yes, bad thing have happened in restrooms where one would not even think of terrible things could happen. In posting above I remembered a case from a while back.

The US may be a bit prudish and reluctant to accept uni-sex, omni-sex facilities, which are much more prevalent in Europe. But it is the culture and expectation to have separate facilities and not have bathroom access to be a free for all. It will not easily change and the issues can be very troublesome.

While in Europe was at a bar that had a uni-sex, multi-person facility. 'Stand-ups' where just inside the door and open as in a regular men's restroom. 'Sit-downs' were in the back with doors but you had to walk by the stand-ups to get to those. Just a normal thing there. But as noted above - the U.S. culture is different.

My young male co-worker did not realize the facility was uni-sex as a woman came out. She saw his surprise and realized he was American and had some fun with him pointing to him and her and pointing the two two symbols on the door pointing out it was for both and it was OK. It was funny.

This is where I'm at I guess. If someone goes through with the surgery and has the right body parts then I'm cool.

It's a dangerous slippery slope to allow anyone who claims to "identify"to a specific gender.

Also under no circumstances should any of these laws apply to minors. Little boys use the little boys room and vice versa that's not even up for discussion.

LIke you I'm not worried about myself and it wouldn't bug me if a woman was in the room. But I do think such laws could put women and children in danger. This isn't bigotry it's simple logic.

If you have an "innie", you go to that lavatory. You have an "outie", you go to that lavatory. If you change your personal plumbing, then you attend the lavatory that corresponds with that equipment.

Did anyone see the 60 minutes story this past week about the transgender man (formally a girl) who swam for Harvard. Apparently she was a top ranked swimmer coming into Harvard, had the sex change and now swims for the men.

My question is, what happens when the roles are reversed...A male has the operation, is much more physically developed and wants to compete vs the ladies? Looks like this could become an issue as well.
