Bathroom Wars: Whose side you got?

OK, I've found the 25 page thing, but it's basically a suggested "best practices" handbook for educators. The part Breitbart found so scandalous says administrators should consult with transgender students who aren't "out" before telling their parents. That seems to be simple advice on handling a delicate issue rather than a proclamation that students can flip between genders at will.

I think the problem started when the push came to start forcing transgenders into specific bathrooms, and laws such as the one in North Carolina started to pop up. At that point, a directive became necessary to protect the rights of transgenders. In other words, had a law meant to restrict access not appeared, there wouldn't have been a need for an executive order.

The problem started when people thought it a good idea to allow men in the women's locker room. Schools first tried to implement a transgender identity rule allowing males to be in the female bathroom/locker room until parents and the general public heard about it and objected. One of the states tried to pass a law to force the acceptance of transgender persons in the bathroom/locker room of the opposite sex. The current push back by conservatives is just that, push back to a prior action.

Here's the real issue...

Does anyone on BGP think it is acceptable for a 12 year old girl to see an adult male's exposed genitals while in a state of undress or walking by the shower room?

Or is it okay for a 10 year old girl who is changing out of her swim suit to be doing so across the room from an adult male who is able to see her nude?

Answer the question. Is this okay with you?

Sorry to be so blunt but this is a serious question. Not all locker rooms have private dressing areas or shower rooms. I know men's locker rooms often do not and I asked my daughter about the women's locker rooms and she confirmed that many are not private.

Furthermore, it is not okay with me for my daughter to be changing her clothes in various stages of undress after gym class or a sporting activity next to a teen age boy at school--even if the boy dresses like a girl.

And finally, the reason the discussion is mostly about men in a women's room is not because it is more acceptable for a woman to be in the men's room, but the image of a man next to a young girl in the locker room elicits more of a reaction and draws the picture more starkly. Both are bad ideas.

Also before you are allowed to use restroom as a transgender you should have to have had a sex change.

Bruce or Katlyn Jenner, whatever it is should have to have his penis took off and have a nice little vagina put in so he will be complete.

Your preoccupation with other people's body parts is disturbing.

The only fear I monger is that in the eyes of the lord I was not strong enough to stand to protect the weak and vunerable, I fear monger that I never give in to the lunacy .. Ever.

Are you aware of the 1st Amendment and separation of church & state? Just because "the lord" directs it don't make it so OR law. Otherwise, if you were in UT they'd still permit polygamy because THEIR lord directed it to be so.

It's not about transgenders. It's about the unnecessary loophole being created. They are the door to a much bigger problem. I don't care what adults do to themselves or other consenting adults. I do care when you have to explain to a child why a guy with a beard in a dress is in the bathroom with them. There are not even enough transgenders in the world for this to even be an issue. On the other hand look up your local sex offender registry since there are no bad guys. Be comforted that you're giving them the right to be in the bathroom with people they have no business being in there with. All they have to say is I identify as a female. It will happen and you can remember I told you so. How will you feel about the victim, will it be worth it.

So you're OK with the NC law requiring a person identified as a female on their birth certificate and who has gone through full hormone therapy and gender reassignment surgery as a male to use the woman's bathroom? Isn't that going to create some questions in the impressionable minds?

Fear the Nation was speaking about his personal motivations. That is what the 1st Amendment was designed to protect.

That admendment was not to erase religion from the public but to keep the state from forcing one on you.

And, therefore, if your expressed rationale for not allowing transgender individuals to use the bathroom of their identity is religion-based, it is inappropriate. In that instance, the government would be "forcing" judeo-christian beliefs on others. You have plenty of other arguments, but "b/c the bible tells me so" can't be one of them under the 1st Amendment.
