Thanks for the greeting cvillecat, and by the way yes i have seen (1) team scrimmage(i play for Ashland) haha so yea, im trying to give my unbiased opinion on Ashland, i believe that we will have a succesful year as well as beating Raceland in our season opener. We have GREAT depth this year i every position. At our QB position Darrell mahan can make some serious plays, but it seems that Coach Hart is still making his decision on who to play Darrell or Drew...so thats going to be tough, Drew was doing great blocking in the wide out spot, as well as making some great catches at the ironton-ashland scrimmage, where Ashland 1st string gave up one touchdown and produced a touchdown as well as kicking some field goals(we played 10 plays each side) and kicked freely. Theres some information regaurding Ashland squad.

Being a player, I would say you have seen a scrimmage or two!! Congrats on being a high school player. It is one of the best times of your life:thumb: Enjoy every moment on the field as it goes by very fast. Thank you for making the sacrifice so we as fans can enjoy the great sport of high school football.Your Tomcats are going to be tough, I too have watched them scrimmage twice and came away impressed. Good luck to you and I hope you have a great season. Work hard in the classroom as well:thumb:

Knock it off guys.

Apology accepted. Everybody makes mistakes.

This is only Monday and we are on page 2 of this thread  . I think that it shows that the Raceland / Ashland clash will definately be the game of the week this Friday :thumb: . If this thread keeps going at this pace it hard to tell how many pages it will be by Friday.:sssh: I say let's just tee it up and watch two good high school fotball teams play some football!!

Just a little history for the young man as well as a few others. Raceland and Ashland just renewed this old rivalry last season. Prior to that it was the 2000 season when they last met. And before that game Raceland had taken 3 of 4 from the Tomcats.

I am getting a bit old, but if my memory is correct, I think that was the recent history of this matchup. If I'm wrong please correct me.

Football just 4 days away!!!!!

That was the recent history I believe TBF, I do believe that there were earlier matchups with the Tomcats winning. I am getting........ no I am old:lol: also. Maybe someone can come up with the series history. If not the local paper (Ashland Daily) usually puts the series history on all teams schedules/matchups. That preview should be out this week sometime, usually on a Thursday or Friday.

Ashland Vs. Raceland

As this season opens Ashland will have its work cut out for them, with two starting O lineman on the sidelines with injuries, it will be Raceland’s’ best hope for a win.

Ashland will be starting an O line that has had limited time working together but they have shown vast improvement over the last week. At this point it looks like Darrel Mahan will man the QB spot or at leased start in that position.

If Ashland can prove they can move the football along with protecting the ball it could be a long night for Raceland, a lot is riding on Raceland ability to stop the run.

The DL line has yet to be in a real game situation but at this point they look solid and I think they will give Raceland trouble.

My prediction is Ashland by two touchdowns... I may be in dream land, time will tell

Ashland leads the series 12 games to 4.

Welcome to BGP Trimmer. Raceland has one of the best LB core that we have ever had. I think people will be impressed with them. They have size & speed. They are capable of stopping the run but whether they can will be told on Friday. I have watched Ashland in their two scrimmages and they have shown great improvement from 1st week. The Mahan kid looks really poised at QB. Ashland has some hard nosed kids so it should be an exciting game to watch.

I believe both injured O-lineman will play.

What type of injury do they have?

What type of injury do they have?

Snodgrass - Hamstring

Walters - Back

I heard that Snodgrass could have played in the Ironton scrimmage, but theres no reason to rush him out there. And Walters may be able to play some against Raceland, atleast thats what I was told yesterday.

That is good news. Sometimes the back injury has a hard time healing. Hope that all goes well for these young men.

Good luck to both Ashland & Raceland. May all the players represent their schools and community with character & sportsmanship and stay injury free.
