Line was really long

Featured Replies

Small counties with short travel distances probably didn't need more than one voting location, if that location was large enough to accommodate the turnout.

Looks like the total vote count is going to be close to the last Presidential Primary in 2012 which also had other state races...not a bad turnout by the GOP for just a one race Caucus.

I watched many cars turn around when they entered the parking lot at Campbell County High School when they saw the line. Who knows if they returned later but I doubt it.
Campbell County Turnout was around 3500 votes, 2012 primary was around 5000 or so. So the turnout in CC was down a bit from 4 years ago. But again its a one race caucus vs a full slate primary.
No question. I think Rubio is done.

Agreed, today sealed the deal for him IMO. Cruz winning 2 more states does keep it interesting.

I think it's over for him too. I now doubt he'll stay in much longer. I once thought he'd hang around until the convention but it's looking bleak for him.

Kinda shocked to see Trump win Jefferson County and Cruz win Fayette. I figured they would both go the same way, never expected a split. If I was told they would split the two I would have went Fayette to Trump and Jefferson to Cruz.

Yeah but they are setting records everywhere else (other states I mean).

I would think that with a few more precincts in the bigger/northern counties, it might've been record setting as well.

No doubt people stayed home because of social media reports as well. Plus UK game haha!

Those counties are so small driving distance wise, if someone wanted to vote that shouldn't have been an issue. Sounds more like northern Kentuckians didn't plan as well as some other did for the crowds and parking. A couple more locations would have helped though especially if the ones they had weren't organized well.

We had one location and had a similar turnout to Boone and about double what Campbell had. But there were no long lines and there was plenty of parking, so that probably helped. Turnout in Pulaski County was similar to the 2012 Primary.

I think Marco's attempt to out-Trump Trump with his attempts at low-brow humor backfired on him.

One voting site in Kenton, one in Boone, one in Campbell. Give me a break. This is no way to run a primary. All because Rand Paul had to be accommodated, and the GOP didn't want to shell out any $$ and have multiple voting sites in NKY. Goodness knows how many people wanted to vote but didn't.

Sounds like McConnell hired Mickey Mouse to run this election.

Sorry you are bitter about the outcome - Huge turn out in NKY today

I guess your location was much more efficient than mine.

I would imagine that in Boone County, a lot of people drove right on past the Mt. Zion exit and turned around in Richwood when they saw cars backed up on the interstate just to get off the exit.

I doubt he's bitter at all. Trump wins one another one. I'm a happy camper. We(the Democrats) can't go wrong with Trump or Cruz.

You have Clinton and Sanders, that's plenty wrong right there. Vote Johnson, unless party is all you care about.

J-dad, if this primary matched 2012 primary then turnout wasn't very good.

Who won was of no concern to me. Huge turnout? Didn't Jumper Dad point out that turnout was down 30 percent in Campbell County vs. the '12 GOP primary? The idea is to make it easy for people to vote, which means 1,000 cars don't fit into 300 spaces at a middle school or church parking lot at 11 a.m. on a Saturday.

GOP was just trying to ease the financial burden for golden boy Paul, thinking that three polling sites for Boone-Kenton-Campbell would be sufficient. Republican voters got shortchanged.

I know that this did happen with people I know. It would help to have a location that has more than one entrance/exit. There was no problem once inside the building at Florence Baptist. The difficulty was getting in and out of the parking lot.
