March 7, 201610 yr Compare apples to apples. Was the turnout larger than most recent GOP primaries the answer is yes by a significant margin. So you trying to down play it or call it a failure is just silly. Failure? Nope. "Monster turnout"? Hardly. Nice to see, though, that KY is finally catching up to the middle of the pack in terms of voter interest. A lot of this, of course, is simply due to the early scheduling of this Republican rodeo.

So you trying to down play it or call it a failure is just silly. THIS!^ The numbers bear out that the turnout was significantly higher than the last 4 Presidential Primaries and higher even than the hotly contested GOP Governors Primary last year. Percentages of turnout is low in all elections, you have to look at a comparison of the actual numbers that voted.

March 7, 201610 yr 30% more voters than last presidential primary is a solid turnout, regardless how much our democratic friends want to play it down.

Just trying to put the numbers in perspective rather than get giddy over the long lines yesterday. Rest assured that the 2020 KY primary will be a few percentage points less than this one because of the return to the May date and no Donald Trump on the ticket. But who knows. Maybe President Trump will be running for re-election.
March 7, 201610 yr Yeah. This whole discussion about voter turnout is silly as is the criticism of KY Republican Party for not getting everything right in the first caucus ever. That's yesterday's news and is irrelevant now.
March 7, 201610 yr Seen the lines, turned left went to the restore and home depot. Started two projects that I completed Sunday and a birthday party. Heck, I got more done than the caucus and congress ever could in a weekend. I usually vote and participate. My guy ( Ben Carson) is out. Really don't like The others much. They all seem to have some baggage or just won't get the nom anyway.
March 7, 201610 yr I'm going to use an analogy. Saturday's caucus was a 5 shot hole that many golfers birdie or better, but the KY GOP parred the hole. I could have only imagined the turnout with multiple polling sites and more publicity. May have been 25%.
March 7, 201610 yr We voted at West Jessamine which is right around the corner. We were going to 'pop in and pop out' since we were going somewhere else and thought it would be like primary or even general election voting. In-out, done in 5 minutes. We were stunned by the traffic and parking and almost did the turn around but did not. As posted before, the initial line to get your real line was long and snaked back toward the back of the school. The individual lines varied in time. We had the second longest it seemed. So some people looking for the usual no-line voting probably did pull away after seeing it was going to be more than 'usual'. But it was a unique expirience and one that should continue.
March 7, 201610 yr 30% more voters than last presidential primary is a solid turnout, regardless how much our democratic friends want to play it down. Doing some quick map. My count was around 25% of Republicans voting. You can do the map using the these sites - County by county. MAP: County-by-county caucus results http://elect.ky.gov/sitecollectiondocuments/election%20statistics/statcnty.txt The caucus was success. The shills know it.

March 7, 201610 yr KY pretty much mirrors the southern states turnout so far where the Republicans are up significantly. The Dems have been plummeting in the south to date.
