Pete - I'm not offended at all. I know that CovCath is really good and really deep. The problem is the complete disrespect of the kids at HHS. They don't have a lot of wins, but they have competed pretty well with everyone on their schedule. To state that a JV group would hammer them is just wrong.

 

The varsity teams at Pendleton, Newport, Lloyd, Holy Cross, and Campbell County all either played close games or lost to HHS. I guess the CovCath JV would hammer all these teams also.

The problem , Stink, is that there are plenty of games that go the other way for the Birds . Bellevue , for one. That's why I said I'm not sure who would win.

Highlands is mainly a one hit wonder imo. Although, most schools would kill to be a one hit wonder. If you compare all the sports success and praise of HHS vs CCH, it'd be around the same. CCH is just a bit more diverse in their success.

I listened to the start of the Cov. Cath radio broadcast of the game. Not real far into the game after a foul by Highlands, Rich Maile made the comment: "We are going to call like we see it".

 

Reminded me of the exchange between Lorne Michaels and Rudolph Giuliani right after 9/11 when Michaels asks "can we be funny?" and Guiliani responds "why start now". :banana:

Since when does "giving it your all" mean anything? If underclassmen are legitimately better, they should play. Would love to know where everyone gets this "Senior entitlement" syndrome from. If you want playing time, earn it. If you want guaranteed playing time, go pay and play at a rec league.

 

But I'll take a Senior who busts his butt in practice, leads in the locker room, knows he isn't going to play much, and cheers from the bench. Those kids are like gold.

Cross Country - I can safely say I have no idea. I know CCH has at least one state title. But has spent a lot of the time over the years in AAA while Highlands has been AA. But not sure who has been better.

Soccer - has been pretty even but Cov Cath with the state title gives them the nod.

Football - Highlands.

Swimming - I'd say Cov Cath is the #2 program in the state.

Tennis - Cov Cath has something like 15+ straight regional titles. I think Highlands is in a different region but CCH has been better over the years.
