Covington Catholic 90 Highlands 30

I wasn't there, so I may be out of line, but I know that CovCath's kids 11-15 are significantly better than Highlands 1-5, so when CCH kids at the end of the bench get the chance to play for a quarter or even a half, they are going full tilt regardless of the score. Those 11-15 kids, under these circumstances, are trying to show they deserve more time. It just happens they are really, really good 11-15 kids and it exacerbates the problem. I wouldn't be too quick to allege "revenge" for a lopsided football defeat.

Ummm, no…I'm pretty sure it was just that it was HHS. CCH getting it handed to them every fall in football does carry over….

When one says a "message" was delivered that implies that the team was trying to "get back" at the other team.

If CCH were trying to do that wouldn't they have played their starters more? Starters played 14 minutes.

For you? Let it go. Games over. Good luck in the district to both teams. We understand everyone thinks Highlands is terrible!

You really believe this. CovCath 11-15 are better than HHS 1-5. Come on.

The reason the score continue to to its final margin is that CovCath's 11-15 are much better than HHS 11-15. When CovCath subbed in the second half, HHS subbed. HHS basketball is not in a good place right now, but CCH JV is not better than HHS varsity, much less significantly better.

but CCH JV is not better than HHS varsity, much less significantly better.

I'm not convinced HHS would win.

I'm sorry to say, but I'm with @Clyde on this.

Not if you have ever heard "our JV are better than your starters". I will assume that HHS did not pull their starters after 14 minutes, in which case they failed to submit and CCH did them a favor by subbing.

I'm with Clyde, Lawnboy, and others, I think CCH 11-15 would be a competitive team in the 9th region. Not necessarily for the title but better than a lot of varsity teams. The school is at an all time high basketball wise. They are better than HHS 1-5. Look at the names. Some of these kids started as Frosh and JV and are now relegated to the bench. A lot are Soph- Juniors who already handled their HHS counterparts in Freshman/JV ball.

It's an embarrassment of riches right now at CCH.

It's hard to get minutes on this team.

Several sophs from last year's undefeated team didn't even come out this year. Probably good decisions all around, but, the intramural league is loaded, yet again.

No doubt, the IBL is stacked with several players in each age group.

I meant no disrespect, and sorry that sounded offensive Stinky. I look at, for example, a skilled 6'11" kid like Walter or the freshmen Davin and Thelen and can certainly see them starting at Highlands, .. and it is a combination of the depth at CCH and struggles at HHS. I think there are also certainly years in the recent past when Highlands 3rd string football kids would have beaten the starters from the 15th best northern Kentucky school. Again, just an opinion, didn't mean to offend anyone.

Walter, Davin, Gunnar Schuh, Hunter Ziegelmeyer, and Thelen would be a top 5 or 6 varsity team in NKy. I know this not exactly CCH's 11-15 but these are not significant minutes players.

This 5 would hammer Highlands. It is what is is at this moment in time.
