Mr. Basketball... Who you got?

Featured Replies

Although I believe the voting ended a little less than two weeks ago, and with that being said....as an Owen Co fan/alum, I hope Carson wins it, but would have no problem if Goodin does. Two deserving candidates.

And, Boone is great, stats dont tell the whole story. He may end up being the biggest steal of all of the D-1 prospects that signed from KY high schools.

I am not saying he should win it by any means. Just saying the kids a winner. More college ready than anyone except the top 3....Williams, Goodin, Faulkner. And winning is important. That is why Carson should win it. He carried his team and made those around him better. Goodin's team lost to too many average teams. Both are great players though.

Goodin's team seems to have its early-season issues ironed out. They've lost just twice since Jan. 2, and both were to teams in the Sweet 16.

I would not bet against Taylor County winning the state tournament. They are by far the most talented team in the state. Who else has 2 top 100 kids in the nation. And their role players are really good. Can they be great? Only time will tell.

Carson Williams should win it and is highly deserving. A name no one will mention because his stats don't wow you is James Boone from Murray High. He plays on a team that has 4 players averaging double digits. They were Class-A runners up in the state tournament and are headed to Rupp. Seen him play several times now and can tell you he might have as good a college career as any of these guys. Headed to Samford and will be a good one. His team beat both Carson Williams team and Quentin Goodin's team this season. Kid is a winner. Coach told me they set the all time record for wins at Murray High. There are not 5 players in this state better than Boone.

Saw Boone play in the All A and at LexCath, and he is a very fine player. With that said, I don't think he is in the conversation with Carson Williams when discussing Mr. Basketball.

I make this comparison. Take Williams and Boone and switch teams. In my opinion, for whatever that's worth, Murray gets better with Williams, Owen Co. probably isn't as good. Williams is the more dominate high school player. Not a dig against Boone, as I said he is a fine player, but Williams is the class of the field.

Agree 100%. Williams is really, really good. NKU got instantly better. Absolutely, the most dominate player in Ky. But, I will turn the question back to you. Put Goodin on Owen County and Williams on Taylor County and what happens. My opinion, Taylor County led by Williams becomes a great team and wins a state championship and maybe loses one or two games all year. He is that good and makes all around him that much better.

Hard for me to say what that switch would look like since I haven't seen Goodin and Taylor Co play this year.

Goodin gets it Taylor County is still playing and going to the sweet 16 2 years in a row.

Has no bearing in the vote since it was conducted prior to the region.

Ok wasn't sure when the votes were casted. I would think they would at least wait until after the regional championship games.

Carson Williams will be helped with it already being voted on. Goodin would have been helped by the state tournament.

Tyriq Edwards I seen the kid play nobody in the whole western Kentucky area can guard this kid he's garunteed 20 every game. He's very crafty. Great playmaker. And is unstoppable. I believe no one in the state can guard him. And he'll put on a show during the tournament

Help us out. Who does he play for?

When will they announce the winner ?

Tyrik Edwards plays for Christian County for anyone who doesn't know. He's the 2nd region POY. He's only about 5'8 but he's as fast as anybody in the state and jumps out of the gym. His weakness is his jump shot.

Well I wouldn't say his weakness is his jump shot . Last few weeks teams been backing off of him daring him to shoot thinking he'll miss but he's been knocking them down consistently even the 3 ball. Which to me is the reason they became unstoppable during the region tournament. He will knock those down if you sag of or he'll beat you off the dribble and pull up. Though I'll admit that has been his weakness the first three years and beginning of the season due to his old coach telling him to take to the basket every chance he gets which I can see why because no one can guard him. But Frankie took his game to another level helping him with his jump shot to the point he feels comfortable taking the shot and knocking it down. He has a nice form and elevations on his shot. So my advice will be if you dare him to shoot your in for a rude of awakening and a long night
