Just as someone said, Williams' best games were against the better teams. The smaller schools who they beat by 25+ brought his numbers down because he didn't play 4 quarters of basketball. He and Goodin are both deserving. The argument that his numbers are inflated because of competition though is not a valid one.

Voting before the regional tournament certainly helped Williams, cause Goodin and Weyer had monster weeks and probably vaulted themselves past Williams

I don't think it would be a run away for the reason that, and I don't want this to come across the wrong way, but not a lot of people south of Lexington and Louisville followed Owen County and what Williams was doing. I think he'll win, but it won't be lopsided

Carson Williams will be helped with it already being voted on. Goodin would have been helped by the state tournament.

Uhh...Williams dominated the game against Taylor County. His supporting cast no where near as good as Taylor County. Taylor County has the most talented team in the state. The game was not even close. Owen County won with a dominating performance by Williams. He dominates every game he plays. Could have gone to a power conference if he wished. The kid has a Kenneth Fareid motor and great skills. Goodin is the most athletic player but certainly not a better basketball player than Williams. Ask any player from a high school team that has played both teams who is the best basketball player and you might be very surprised at the answer. Nothing against Goodin. He is really good. As a NKU alum I am thrilled to see CW coming north.

 

I think Goodin has more overall talent but CW's talents were very effective.

 

With that I'm still surprised that Faulkner gets no love for Mr Basketball.

As I've said he's starting to have confidence in his shot and he can hit twenty any game but that's where the playmaking comes into play with guy like torrion ware and sebree to take some of the load he doesn't have to every night can when they need it like for instance the region championship hoptown was making a huge comeback and he exploded for 27 points he becomes a scorer when they need it... And that's in big games mainly he's playmaking for someone else like TORRION WARE and sebree... The 3 is still a work in progress but inside that arc no one can hold him he's stronger than most guards. Faster than most guards. And more athletic. Don't be surprises when he pulls a anthony hickey and average 20+ during state... Cause remember hickey was averaging the same thing going into the tournament before he put on a show. And everyone seems to compare him to HICKEY

 

So much for Christian County and Edwards. You thought he was Mr. Basketball?

Tyriq Edwards I seen the kid play nobody in the whole western Kentucky area can guard this kid he's garunteed 20 every game. He's very crafty. Great playmaker. And is unstoppable. I believe no one in the state can guard him. And he'll put on a show during the tournament

 

South Laurel just stopped Edwards and Christian County. His show in Rupp was very brief. A pretty good player, but doesn't exactly like to pass the ball. He shot it at every opportunity. Christian County ran into a team that is very unselfish and looks for the open man. That's why Christian County is gone after one game.

I thought Edwards had a good game... 26 points, well over 50% from the field.

 

It seems to me that he did not get enough support today.

Scotty Hopson didn't win because back then the winner was picked after the sweet 16. Darius Miller won mr. Basketball that year for the same reason Anthont Hickey JR won in 2011. I don't think they are voting that way this year as they didn't last year. That hurts Tyrik Edwards chance of winning this year.

 

Losing today in the first round of the Sweet 16 would not have helped him, either.

It was basically a one man show.... And I feel bad for the kid because he played is heart out. Yes he could of pass the ball more but nobody was making shots. Overall what hurt them was they did not full court press

I wouldn't put this game on him his teammates just did not show up. And they let him down big time
