No NKY players on this list? Either A. Gimme a break because we get no respect from the rest of the state or B. the NKY coaches didn't return their ballots. I hope it's B but I have a feeling it's A.

Truth be told it is not too far fetched that they aren't represented on the 1st team

 

Male is loaded with guys who are probably worthy of 2nd and 3rd team honors... no team in the State had more guys who are Top 10 at their position... but they don't have many guys you can pinpoint as being top 3 at their position.

 

ATLCat...with respect, of the many things you have posted this year, I have to disagree with some of the comments regarding Male. Please keep in mind, I'm a Trinity fan.

 

I've seen my share of football over the years and Zackary Smith (WR) and Jack Kurzi (LB) were as good as anyone I've seen for a while. Both players are more than qualified to be on the 1st team. MVP seasons on his side of the ball for the best team in the state in the highest class (ranked nationally). Kurzi made 2nd team all metro and I personally think that was a HUGE miss on the part of all writers/voters involved.

 

I could argue every position from a Trinity perspective. Strength of schedule including the games against Brentwood, Ensworth, Male (2), X (2) and the 70-14 game against Lafayette obviously carry no weight. Our defense went against 5 star lineman, Ole Miss lineman, Tennessee Lineman and UK Lineman....only giving up a few TD's. Only 1 or 2 guys get recognized.

 

End of the day, I can't really argue with the list. Congratulations to the kids...each one worthy of the accomplishment. Like most things regarding polls and voting, I'm sure a lot of people can find a flaw.

So how did you see it and yet it is not to be released until 2?

OFFENSE

 

Others will take shots... I am going to say by and large I am OK with it.

 

Definitely names missed.... but that will happen...but the majority of the guys that need to be listed on Offense in the First 3 Teams appear to be there.

At one point I saw a tweet from Jason Frakes that 118 ballots received and only 6 or 8 were from Jefferson County or something like that.

This would help explain perceived lack of Jefferson County kids making the first team. I think it is ridiculous for a coach not to take an hour and give this ballot the attention it deserves. I am confident the northern Kentucky folks didn't participate. This is the OLDEST All-State team selected annually. It pre-dates the Associated Press version.

I will say this again and this will be the last time. Not sure how a kid that goes 46/46 on PAT's, ranks 5th all time in the state of Kentucky, goes 11/16 on FG's with a long of 46, converted over 50 consecutive and puts a high percentage of kickoffs in the endzone is only good enough to garner honorable mention.

 

Just glad that the colleges do not use the same criteria in their evaluation of players.

Smith was one of the best WR and Athletes in KY.

Congrats to all players selected but I've seen all I've needed to see with Cooper's Dante' Hendrix not listed ANYWHERE. How the leading 6A WR in yardage and another 15 TD's doesn't receive at a minimum HM leaves a lot to be desired and as one of top DB's in the State with 8 INTs and gave up 0 TDs all season I'll wait to see when the defensive team is released but it appears NKY doesn't get the respect year in and year out.

We will have to disagree to some extent... you named to excellent guys who I would definitely put in the Top 5-7 at their spot, but I stand by my assertion that they aren't quite Top 3 worthy.

 

I just cant skip Smith over Ogbogu, Johnson, or a Brett Slusher with the kind of production and impact those guys had. Part of that is the fact male was so good Smith wasn't asked to take on the role of a guy with 1200 yards and a ton of TD's

 

Kurzi is an excellent LB and Top 5 at the spot no doubt..but once again Kinslow and Daniel were can't miss guys and now you are having to pick between 4 or 5 deserving guys for that 3rd spot.

 

Both are guys you have to see listed on a team outside of just Honrorable Mention..but to me just not quite to that 1st team level.

Not much argument from me... tough ball player

 

LB list is pretty solid... you might could move McElwain and Gooch for other names, but also hard to take much exception. Two very good football players.

Try reading all of the teams. He's second team at defensive back.
