Truth be told it is not too far fetched that they aren't represented on the 1st team

 

Male is loaded with guys who are probably worthy of 2nd and 3rd team honors... no team in the State had more guys who are Top 10 at their position... but they don't have many guys you can pinpoint as being top 3 at their position.

I saw him play in person. While he is a good back; he was not the best back on the field that day, much less the best in the state. The kid from Bullitt East was the best back on the field that day. Granted that is the only game I saw either one of them play.

Because I know people will ask:

 

The C-J All-State team is based on a vote of coaches. Every coach in the state receives a ballot. We got 126 ballots back.

 

Do we publish the team based exactly on vote totals? No. But I'd say it's about 90 percent of what we use.

 

How many Jefferson County coaches responded? I am not asking for names, just a total for reference.

Wakefield was a no-doubt first-teamer in preseason but hardly played all year.

At one point I saw a tweet from Jason Frakes that 118 ballots received and only 6 or 8 were from Jefferson County or something like that.

Not bad... three of four punters you can put here and be OK with and Johnson is one of those guys.

Do me a favor and watch his highlights he deserves to be 1st team. Anyone who has seen him play knows he was the best of the three backs and they fed off him because defenses focused on him.

I said I'm sure he's a fine player, you said he's a top 3 back definitively, I disagreed. I'm not criticizing his selection to all state, just saying I don't see the numbers that make him 1st team over many other very good backs. I'm going to go watch his highlights now

Not one NKY kid. Pretty obvious where votes were not coming from it would appear. Sad if the coaches "are not" voting and really really sad if they are voting.

I give their 1st Team a solid "B"

 

I can live with everything except for OL and one name that was a major stretch on the DL.
