  1. Very solid list overall in my opinion. As noted, seniors only so that should hopefully mute some of the criticisms. As well as only 25 slots with 5 honorable mentions. Hard to pick 30 statewide for a very good overall senior class.
  2. Classy response from a classy person. Thanks for being so open about your thought process and your personal selections. Wish more would be like that.
  3. My bad. It wasn't you, it was the other poster who said he was a top 3 back for sure. But I'm reading the posts, don't worry.
  4. Very good back. Not going to comment any more than that because it will just continue to come across wrong. Congrats to him.
  5. I said I'm sure he's a fine player, you said he's a top 3 back definitively, I disagreed. I'm not criticizing his selection to all state, just saying I don't see the numbers that make him 1st team over many other very good backs. I'm going to go watch his highlights now
  6. Have you seen Humfleet, Alstatt, Pugh, Xondre Willis, Corey Smith, the Slusher kid from Beechwood or even the Stringer kid pre-injury from Beechwood? I've seen all of them or seen film. I've also seen film on many of the others whose names have been thrown around, and Holbrooks would have to be REALLY special to jump ahead of many of them. I really really don't want to keep harping on it. Congrats to the kid, I'm just very surprised he was chosen 1st team. He was honorable mention last year with similar numbers so I'm just having a hard time figuring out what he did so exceptionally to allow him to jump a lot of really good producers
  7. And I will say again, with all due respect, I'm sure he is a very good back. But he is NOT a top 3. He was in an offense that was almost solely rush (448 yards passing all year), so it stands to reason his numbers will look good. If you look at his teammates and their numbers, they had higher yards per carry than he did. So they did more with less. Doesn't that make them better, in some respects? I don't want to take away from his accomplishments. I'm sure he's a fine player. But a point to make: Morehead doesn't give athletic scholarships. He may have an offer to join the team and promise of financial aid assistance based on his academic achievements, but not an athletic scholly.
  8. So, sharing a backfield with two other 1000 yard rushers and he makes 1st team? No. This is definitely a big surprise. And I mean no offense, but he is not a top 3 RB in the state. I'm sure he's a very good back, but not top 3.
  9. It only shows a few. And already I'm feeling slightly disgusted. Lol
  10. Chirico did a wonderful job over the past two years. However, I agree, it should have been Coach Mac in my opinion. But it is par for the course, after seeing how few of the Panther players have been recognized on the various "all whatever" teams. It's a shame really, because several of hem had outstanding years.
  11. Eh. Could have been better. But congrats to those selected.
  12. IMO, fairly dead on. And honestly, Harlan has the potential to sneak into top 5 level based on the film I saw toward h end of the year on them. Don't know if they have enough to push much higher, but definitely not a team to be overlooked.
  13. I was mostly with you until you said Baker was the best RB in Ky. No he's not. Phelps from Paintsville is better even than he is. You were right on with most of the rest, and I basically made the same argument that these award lists are so subjective depending on the voter, that I can see arguments for or against players on the list and those left off. But Baker is not the best RB in the state. Just, no. Quality player, and I wish him well, but he's a top 3 or 5 back state wide. There is even a segment of the Ashland fan base that believed Brown was better. I've got no dog in that fight, though. Just my opinion, nothing at all personal. I was using Pugh's numbers as an example, by the way, of how you can make an argument for someone you feel was overlooked. That's all.
  14. Beechwood has apparently not reconciliated the state finals game stats into their season stats, and until they do, KHSAA will list them without Beechwoods numbers.
  15. Congratulations to all nominees. It's an honor indeed just to be nominated. That said, I have a hard time believing Daric Pugh from Pikeville wasn't at least nominated. Numbers: 198 carries for 2069 yards and 35 TDs 3 catches, 47 yards and 2 TDs 2 FR, 1 returned for a TD 6 2 pt conversions 16 tackles 1A Championship game MVP with 25 carries for 243 yards and 2 TDs. But before anyone accuses me of bashing anyone, I'm not. Just putting his numbers out there. From the nominees on here, I have to believe it's between Kash Daniel and Riley Hall most likely.
  16. Committee selects players from nominations submitted by coaches. All senior players are eligible to be nominated/play, but they usually MUST be nominated. Committee is made up of knowledgeable people involved in the running of the bowl. Coaches can go to their website and get nomination forms I believe.
  17. I was referring to posters who've commented saying they thought it was Paintsville out of the east with a healthy Kash. My bad for not clarifying.
  18. I knew this would happen. Kash didn't play and everyone thinks Pikeville was not the best team out of the east. Regardless of he had played or not, Pikeville would have won. The first game where Paintsville won, Pikeville had a different QB and also gave that game away. But that's ok. This is an opinion thread. I just wish people would acknowledge that. Probably have people saying if Stringer played, Beechwood would have won. We will never know. But the title is in Pikeville and we just lined up and played who was in front of us.
  19. According to the young man who does them, expected release is sometime during Christmas break due to his work and other commitments. I will post here when I see it is released. But you're right, Lukas is the best at it.
  20. He has Hudl videos, and a guy by the name of Lukas Burchett posts Pikeville highlight videos on YouTube all the time. Some quality work.
  21. I voted no on 3A because I do not believe Lex Cath was truly the best team in the West. 6A speaks for itself. Lafayette was a decent team but not the best team out of the west, that was Central. 1A comes with an asterisk. I really believe the two best teams were both in the east, but I voted yes because I believe Beechwood was the best 1A team out of the west.
  22. You won't get an answer on that one from the Beechies here. Probably because it's not a can of worms they want to open. Anyone here have access to the rosters with ages? I don't want DOBs posted here, but ages would be interesting I bet. I would look but have no idea where to find it
  23. Not too many comments on Pikeville at number 9. Guessing that's because not many Pikeville people on this site. But looks about right, given the history of the program. Obviously, some will not agree with it. I know there's research being done on the Pikeville records and such but I think none of the criteria used to measure here would be impacted due to it being '59 and to present day. All time wins could be bumped from the research, still some years missing that they are looking at. May be a good topic for another thread here about the top winning programs?
