NKy Football Coaches irked at plan

And you clearly are unable to understand that we don't have 500 high schools in Kentucky. Disparity won't change just because you water it down.

No HHS Dad you don't understand.... The whole Idea of Classes is to have about equal size schools playing in the OLD System of 4 Classes. It was not happening at all. You know I heard you Watered down guys in 1975 and again when we went to 2 teams making the playoffs and then again in 1992 when we went to 4 teams from a district making the playoffs. Well it didn't water it down. Football statewide got better.

1) We have more competitive teams and districts

2) We have more schools playing football

3) We have improved the football in this state

4) It will allow more teams to make the playoffs

Again this will balance the teams better and allow more teams to make the playoffs. I sure understand that a Power like Highlands likes the current system, they have been very successful in the 4 class system. But this is about all the teams in the state not just Highlands or Trinity or Dunbar. I am sorry you don't like it. But if you were at a school in an 7,8,9 team district and you had no chance of making the playoffs year in and year out..... Your program has no chance to improve. Highlands will play well in any class. They are an elite program. But what is best for the entire state. There are some negatives in anything new. There are some details that must be worked out. As far as Highlands district being poor. They will only have 3 district games that leaves 7 games to fill with the best competition they can find.

If a school is powerful in a four class system, won't it be even more powerful in a six class system since it has less competitition? BTW, I'm not from Highlands.

I'm curious when it was decided that the introduction of more playoff slots was the driver of better football. Could the two not be related?

Hopkinsville? Harrodsburg? Male?

Just kidding, go Bulldogs!

I think you're missing the point. Basically, if the winner of the CCH/HHS game doesn't determine the 1 and 2 seed as well as the district winner...it's not as worthwhile...

No question that the game would be much less meaningful. Birdsfan stated the game would not be worthwhile and I was disputing that.

For the past 30 years the state has had the same 4 class system and some great rivalries have developed. This would certainly detract from the CovCath / Highlands rivalry but the game would still be a marquee game for both schools.

The same would happen with the NewCath / Beechwood game even though they have shared 1A for a shorter period of time.

So the games this year against St. Francis Desales, St. Xavier or Colerain won't be worthwhile either?
Different situation.
Just applying the logic that the CovCath game would no longer be "worthwhile" to other non-district games.

Maybe they could move CovCath to earlier in the season and use it as a way to get ready for Spencer County or Western Hills.

Then it would be even less worthwhile.
Those are games that Dale uses to get ready for...CCH.

This is true. Also gets them ready for tough playoff games and hopefully a state title shot.

You are clearly not able to undersyand the problem with size disparity in a 4 class system, so I'm done with you...

I see what people are tyring to say, but I do not feel outside of trinity and X this is even an issue. There are not enough schools in this state to actually have a large enough base for in my mind a real state title. This will put each division under 40 teams if I'm not mistaken. That is not a state title, but more like a regional or sectional title.

Just because I don't have your opinion does not mean I do not understand the situation. I just think as said before this is teaching kids a wrong lesson.

The 4 spot playoff rule is fine with me teams had earn their title to a higher extent. Now teams will win state titles because they were taken away from some of the greatest competition.

Is that you're mature well thought answer that you give to anyone who disagrees with you? Some can give it but sure can't take it.

I can take heat with the best on BGP. Always have. You are complaining with no answer to what the people in charge of the sport see as a major problem. The only way to get what you want is what I suggested. Who can't take it???

By all the people in charge of course you mean no one in NKY right?

If they didn't show up and voice concern, they obviously didn't care all that much IMO...

Are you for eliminating the District Tournaments in basketball???

I agree, to a certain extent.
