NKy Football Coaches irked at plan

Featured Replies

Maybe some schools will be re-examining the "Oak Hill" option that was discussed here a while back.

The current (6A) plan is bad for NKY, bad for most of the state and bad for any team that really wants to EARN it's state trophy. But those are not the same people that came up with this awful plan.

I can't imagine CCH is too excited about this. They currently have 3 district games which allows 7 non-districts. I'm guessing they make pretty good money on their non-district games. Now , in addition to extra travel, they will lose one of those money-making games.

Could Cov Cath move up to 5a?

That would allow them to compete with the majority of the areas schools. Plus compete for the same students.

1. The "Oak Hill" option was a choice for T and X only.

2. What about 6A is bad for NKY???

I said from day one, that I don't like it. I've just had a sense of acceptance about the whole thing. I know we can compete with BC, Ryle, SK, and CC, not to mention Trinity and X on a good year. Heck, we (Dixie) won our district last year, and the year before that knocked T out of the playoffs. I hope that we play up, but I would bet we won't. We will take the hand we're dealt and live with it for now. I would not be surprised however, that if a super class option does not materialize at the next reclassification as a viable option, that we would ask to play up. I love our present district and our class. I believe it has made 4A football in NKY better as a whole. What splitting us up from the rest of the big boys will do to our program is debateable, but bottom line, I'm glad we have this year to enjoy being in 4A. What will come will come, and we are not in control. It's a big state. We have made our voices heard with the unanimous 18-0 vote, and so has the rest of the state. The rest of the state won this particular time. We'll deal with it.

I wish that CCH and HHS would move up to 5A. It would make a heck of a district! Much more competitive than what any of them have now on their own in 3, 4 or 5A. Dixie can't move down, so I invite you guys to move up. :thumb:

First of all, that option was discussed for HHS and maybe some others. I can see a small scale version of that working for a few teams.

Second, I haven't heard anyone who sees anything GOOD about it for NKY. Did you read the article? The area coaches are definitely against it, and for good reason.

What is Highlands enrollment?

What does it HURT in NKY? HHS? Boo hoo...

What I dont understand is that if all the coaches voted against it....why would they still do it.

It makes the whole season meaningless. Your season ends up having no bearing on whether you make it to the playoffs. Maybe we should just switch to a two-and-out tournament format starting in August.

Oh brother!

And you gotta love the 100 mile avg. drive time for every game!

"I want to earn it," said Stephen Lickert, whose Dayton program hasn't reached the playoffs since 2002. "I don't want our kids going into the season knowing they're in the playoffs. What's the point of that?"

What's the cut-off from 3A to 4A?
