Will ANYONE move up to 6A?

Featured Replies

I was under the impression that under the 6A evenly divided proposal Male would be 6A.
Evenly divided, Male will be in 6A. They fall into 5A with the Super Class.

Thought so. :thumb:

:p

So let me get this straight, JH, who will be one of the top5 in 5A and have a good shot at a title appearance every year, is going to give that up to go to 6A where the only question most years will be, which one wins T or X. Yeah.... I see that happening.

Which way is it Sandman? Why would you say that one team wants to "earn it" and it is "more of a challenge to play up," and turn around and also question why JH might want to move up. They nearly knocked off 2/3 of the Big 3. I'm not sure that they can sustain that, but after a few years, if they can, why wouldn't they want to challenge themselves?

My youth soccer team moved up to the A league after winning the B league. My college rugby team moved up from III to II after winning the state cup. And again, JH is in a growing area and is nearly at the 6A enrollment now. They may soon be forced to move up.

Bluebird fans, pick your poison...

With this setup I think that BG would've won state last year.

Wouldn't they already be in a class with Boyle, LexCath, CovCath, etc.? Have at it I guess, I just don't see the point. I don't think anyone will consider a 4A title to be watered-down, given that competition.
The point seems obvious. They would join Dixie, Scott, Grant and Holmes. I was assuming that your boys would do the same. Now, after looking at the line-up again, I think maybe they would go for the 6A option -- with Conner, Campbell, Boone, Ryle And SK.

The way John Hardin was playing late in the year, they wouldn't have been a pushover.

If you add more NKY teams to 5A, there would have to be 2 districts. It's not a smart move for HHS or CCH...
I think it would be a great move for both. As would a move to 6A to some extent.

John Hardin would have been a legitimate challenger.

True...I had forgotten about them...funny you can see that the KHSAA wanted to make sure that 2A-5A was supremely comepetitive to help the complainers but yet, those are still the ones who likely won't win.

I think so as well.

Looking back at 5A, you could make a case. 6A?

Call me crazy but don't there have to be an even amount of teams in each class. You have to have a bunch of teams in 6A to make every class competitive.

Teams in smaller classes can move up as much as they want under the new system anyway.

I think your dead on LN, and any school that is going to be a different division will probably have similar thoughts about their prospects of moving up a class.

I think Highlands could win a lot of championships in 5A (looking at the teams currently slated for 5A), but the jump of two (and maybe three classes if we eventually get pushed down to 3A) is a bit much to expect.

When there were only 3 classes and schools could play up, its my understanding that Highlands did move up from 1A to 2A, so a one class jump would be consistent with what was done in the past, although admittedly with more classes the significance of one class jump is not quite what it used to be.

Again, I think the decision is based more on what CovCath does than anything else. Then again, with the move up requests being required to be by sealed envelope, Highlands will not know what CovCath is going to do unless Mueller and Rodenburg enter into a gentlemen's agreement.
