Will ANYONE move up to 6A?

Featured Replies

But isn't that a bit of a double standard? That's why I raised the question.

Highlands playing up would mean that they were earning a title rather then having it handed to them (as you stated for the reasoning behind Highlands playing up) wouldn't the same thing apply to Dixie if they don't choose to play up?

To someone from Highlands, perhaps. I am only echoing sentiments I have heard from Bluebirds when speaking of HHS, and not all Bluebirds, just some.

Dixie will not play up. I just don't see them climbing out on that limb. BUt if we did, I think it would be for competition and geography. We like our district and this new class system is going to kill it. If we moved up it will have nothing to do with T or X, but in spite of in my opinion. No grand morale stand. Just my opinion.

Even though Dixie's district would change drastically I don't believe our schedule would change that much. I presume that Holmes, Scott, and Grant Co would be in our district. That would mean we would have to make room for Grant Co and maybe one other team. If I had to guess what team Dixie would drop it would be Beechwood simply because we don't have a long history of playing them. I do believe Dixie would keep SK on the schedule because it's a Kenton Co school. I also doubt that Dixie would drop CovCath.

I was under the impression that under the 6A evenly divided proposal Male would be 6A.

My mistake. Forget what I said.

That pretty much means 6A will be a scaled down version of the current 4A. This is a joke. Leave it the way it is.

Essentially the only teams that this helps are the ones that remain in 1A and the few that go from 4A to 5A (getting out of 6A). For the majority of the rest of the schools, little, if anything, changes.

It gives some of the teams that grumble about us to try to win one without us there, however some of the most vocal grumblers are still stuck with us. :D

The point seems obvious. They would join Dixie, Scott, Grant and Holmes. I was assuming that your boys would do the same. Now, after looking at the line-up again, I think maybe they would go for the 6A option -- with Conner, Campbell, Boone, Ryle And SK.

Are you basing your opinion, theoretically, on who would be in their local district?

I think given the proposed set-up, with CCH, Boyle, LexCath, HHS, et al being in 4A, that it would be the most competitive and balanced class among the 6. There is no reason in the world for CCH to consider moving up a class, at least none that I can see. If CCH wants to hike their britches up and play in 6A with the big boys (in Louisville), I think they would be in for years of tough times in the playoffs. As Leatherneck said so accurately about Highlands (and it applies somewhat to CCH as well), there are years that we could compete, but those are in the great minority.

I believe firmly that both CCH and HHS will proudly "stay and play" in the very competitive Class "AAAA."

I think that the new 4A will be just as chalenging as the present 3A so I would stay and play if it were me.

Bryan Station

That was my point in Post #12 -- however, your post following it (#13) seemed to disagree.

While I would like to think that people want to play and beat Trinity/St.x/Male for a title

Playing the big three for a title, & actually having much of a chance to win one, is totally different endeavors:irked:

Funny how things seem. I was merely espousing feelings about the subject that have been told to me by HHS fans/alumni/and supporters. Not all, but some feel this way. I think the majority is fine with things however they work out. I tried to state that I was merely echoing what has already been said by others to me and on this site many times, but that message seems to be overlooked.

I definitely see Bryan Station moving up, it would not make sense to break up the Lexington Publics, and the unique rivalries each school possesses with the others.

Bryan Station may not have a choice. My understanding was that when the new school was completed, there would be some redistricting to boost the school's enrollment to more in line with the other Fayette County schools. That would likely kick the Defenders back up to 6A territory.

:p

So let me get this straight, JH, who will be one of the top5 in 5A and have a good shot at a title appearance every year, is going to give that up to go to 6A where the only question most years will be, which one wins T or X. Yeah.... I see that happening.

Sandman: My thoughts exactly noway will JH move up. We have around 650 boys in the school, yes Hardin Co is growing rapidly. I think JH will enjoy playing schools with the same population. By the way go REDHOUNDS!!!
