August 20, 200620 yr Why Larue????? Outfield is better defensively here. Larue????? I just can't get over it. I think Larue always catches Harang...
August 20, 200620 yr I know some on here are sensitive to questioning and/or criticizing the Redlegs manager but , once again, he makes you scratch your head. I'd ask anyone to defend the following: David Ross has sat 4 of the last 9 games.
August 20, 200620 yr I think Larue is dating Narron's daughter or has pictures of Narron with the owner's wife or something...
August 20, 200620 yr I think Larue is dating Narron's daughter or has pictures of Narron with the owner's wife or something... If he was dating her wouldn't Narron want to sit him to avoid embarassing his daughter?
August 20, 200620 yr If he was dating her wouldn't Narron want to sit him to avoid embarassing his daughter? :dancingpa
August 20, 200620 yr Reds lineup today... LaRue starting...LOL...coming off a 5 RBI night, Ross needs the rest. Another brilliant move by Narron.
August 20, 200620 yr Harang likes LaRue catching him. Still, Narron has to make a decision based on what is best for the team and this is not best for the team. Marty B. was talking about that this morning on WLW. Off air Marty asked Narron about it and Narron made the point that Harang likes LaRue catching him. Off a 5 RBI night? Marty said Johnny Bench only sat during the second game of a DH. Narron's reply was that Ross is not Johnny Bench. Marty's reply, "That is the best you have got?" Honestly, Narron has done a decent job this year. The Reds are a .500 team in the thick of the playoff hunt, because the rest of the league is BAD. That is not the Reds fault. However, I can't see how he justifies doing things the way he does. Baseball is not a complicated game. You put the best team on the field that gives you the best chance to win. Then you manage your bench. You manage your bullpen, however, the pen is a lil shorthanded with injuries and sore arms. Yet Narron finds way to seemingly make things more difficult. You have to do what is best for the team more so than what may be best for the individual.
August 20, 200620 yr For what it's worth LaRue is 4-9 against Santos in his career with a homerun, while Ross is 0-1.
August 20, 200620 yr From Marc Lancaster's Blog Chris Michalak's grandmother passed away last night at age 102, so he's headed to the bereavement list for a minimum of three days. He's still expected to start Wednesday. In the meantime, the Reds have recalled the International League's leading hitter (.349), Norris Hopper, from Louisville. He should be here in time to play today. Mike Burns was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man. http://frontier.cincinnati.com/blogs/spring/
August 20, 200620 yr Harang likes LaRue catching him. Still, Narron has to make a decision based on what is best for the team and this is not best for the team. If Harang feels best with Cowboy, how is it not the best for the team? I'd give my #1 what he wants as well...
August 20, 200620 yr I assume Griffey feels he is a 3 hitter as is most comfortable there as well...despite statistics this year to the contrary. Is Harang the manager or is the players? That may be the case with Harang/LaRue. Harang has been the one of the most consistent pitchers in the rotation. Yet he has not held a team to 4 or fewer runs since June. Hopefully the endgame of the lineup involves a W.
