Is there a place that has enrollment for males and females? Will that change some teams up? One more question, the way it looks Betsy layne would be in 2A with Pikeville but am unsure about teams besides them. Could someone shed the light a little?

A couple of observations......

 

First, maybe SM can help me with this......So is this the proposed format? 6 evenly divided classes? Or will they go with the "Super" top 20 for 6A? Makes a big difference to me.

 

Second, just looking at the 5A, and low and behold the BG Purples have snuck in the back door! BG, traditionally, has fielded some exceptional teams. Will they continue to have the same kind of sucess?

 

Third, I wouldn't be suprised at all to see teams like Beechwood, Highlands, etc. move up a class if their rivals(NCC, CovCath) aren't in the same class. That being said, I don't think anyone will touch 6A as far as moving up. In fact, you might see a scramble to get out of that classification! :laugh:

 

Finally, I know change is always difficult. I have mixed emotions about this move. On one hand, it does level the playing field, as far as enrollment goes. But it does take away some of the meaning of beating a T or X to win a state title. Ultimately though, I think it is the right move. It sure beats the pants off of a public/private split. :thumb:

This is the current proposal. If they do implement this plan, they will begin studying the "Super 6A" plan, which seems to have a lot of support.

I agree(see my other post on the Super class thread). Personally, I loved the rivalries with CCH and Highlands. Looking back on it, its hard to believe that a school in only its 3rd or 4th year of existence was able to compete with and beat those kinds of schools. Can you imagine Pendelton Co. giving CCH or Highlands a game? I'd love to see the following district; for my own personal, selfish reasons of course:

If I were a Beechwood fan I would be loving this. Whats the state record for consecutive titles?

Will all six championship games be played at one site? Three one day and three the next? Two games a day over three days? Will the University of Louisville make the schedule first and give the KHSAA the leftover dates or will it be the other way around? Will they split the championship sites now?

Just to be clear, it will be six even classes with no super class. The super class will be considered for the future but the current agreement is for 4 years so the first chance we will have at any super classes is 2011.

Have you heard how they are going to keep classes even with teams having the option of playing up?

They would probably drop the lowest in whatever respective class gains teams.

For a championship ring to be ultra special as it should be, there should be three classes and three champions!

 

This means that somewhere between 300 and 400 players each year will have state championship rings. Ridiculous!

I hate the idea of reclassifying, but it's coming, and I understand and accept why. I personally hope that we grow enough to get back to 6A because I love the challenge we face at our current level. It means a whole lot to compete and beat one of the big dogs. Not saying that to win at any level it doesn't, cause if we win a state title at any level I would gladly put it on my mantle. Even with the reclassification it will be extremely difficult to win a state title, and if HHS and CCH play up, (among others) it'd probably mean just as much.

I am semi-guessing but I think the decision to play up will be a request made in writing that the KHSAA will have to approve and I assume no one will move down but rather you would have an un-equal amount of teams in each class. Or, if it is sealed, I suppose if the KHSAA approves it they could go to the bottom school in the class a team is moving up to and ask them if they want to move down. As I find out more I will pass it along.
