I think what he is saying is that going good vs good is an advantage.

OC only has 1 guy going both ways might be good vs some people, but it might be bad vs Mayfield. Catholic will play up to 28-29 players. In many sports it's all about match-ups. If Catholic can match up with Mayfield Speed and size and not have to play alot both ways, but rotate those 29 players then it could help beat Mayfield. DOES this mean they will win cause of this? NO, Can it help? Yes. The real fans at OC respect Mayfield and know and understand their tradition they have, but this Owensboro Catholic team will not walk into War Memorial Stadium and be scared of Mayfield's tradition.

Make no mistake. Having a 2.5 hour drive to War Memorial and thinking about it, they will be scared? I would hope not scared, but concerned, definitely. Trust me.

There is a reason I haven't predicted a score, and thats because I honestly don't know whats going to happen Friday night. While I feel like MF has an edge being at home, the big play capabilities of OC are what even it up, or make it close. I don't think either team will get blown out. No more than a 10 point swing either way.

 

I feel the same way, lots of things can play into a game like this when teams seem fairly evenly matched, turnovers, penalties, etc. I just hope our kids are prepared for this game, they should know that OC is not going to be a pushover.

This should be the most relaxed game that OC has played in 4 years for the simple reason they finally have gotten past Murray. To me all the pressure is on Mayfield, moving up in class, playing their first 2A playoff opponent that wont back down, haven't lost a home playoff game in forever. Those things can weigh on the mind a little bit and wait until Shamari Morton zips by you like a waterbug on water(and he will) and you realize you may not have anybody on the team to keep up with him or RZ3 throws a 70 yard dart on the money and then you realize all the qb's you have played against aren't as good as his then maybe Mayfield may step back and blink a little. Doesn't mean they will lose but you never know> Guess we will find out Friday night! I just hope this game lives up to the hype! Can't wait to see it! Good Luck to both teams for a safe night!

The biggest advantage for OC is the QB and #3 but the Cards have #22 and a advantage at the coaching position and these to me should be the key to the MF win. I think having the best back in 2A pays huge dividends in this one

These players have just about seen it all.

All you say can go visa versa.

Maybe when you see you can't quite matchup everywhere on the field

Maybe when you see a defense that just last year faced Mr Football and did just fine.

One or two players won't beat Mayfield, they will be prepared or make adjustments.

Any good team wont back down and I don't expect OC to back down.

I do expect a hard hitting game and least from us.

As I have said the lines of these teams will determine this outcome, you block , you can run and pass, you put pressure on the QB , you force mistakes and make teams do what they don't want to.

Listened to the Homers podcast. Not getting much respect from the announcers. Both have Mayfield losing , one by 14. They seem to think Mayfield doesn't respect OC. I'm beginning to think its the other way. Time for a trip to the woodshed.

One thing about Coach Edge, he has had his teams ready for road games in the playoffs. Especially the Micah Johnson years in ft Campbell when they were unstoppable. OC hasn't played mayfield since the early 90s, before any of these kids were before, so they won't be intimidated. This group thinks they are the team to beat. After the Murray game which should have been 48-7, I think they are

Oddly enough, CalPreps predicts this game as only the 3rd closest in 2A this week. Both NCC and CAL are 7 point favorites... Mayfield is 9 (31 to 22) and Danville is an eye opening 24. ( Thread that posted other CalPreps stats were a week old )
