Owensboro has a few kids with great speed, but, as far as team speed goes, I'd give Mayfield the edge.. If they played tomorrow, I'd pick Mayfield to beat Owensboro.. I know I'm going to get grief for saying that and a lot of "No ways" , but, that's my opinion.. It would be a close game, but, I'd take Mayfield to beat them..

 

I fully respect Mayfield, but I respectfully disagree. And.....I don't want to make this thread about "what if" OHS and Mayfield played. They don't and this thread is about OCath and Mayfield.

Now, that one year that CC beat us twice in the same season, you did get a little obnoxious, but, can't blame you.. That was a great year for the Rockets..

 

Hmmm I'd have to see the posts. Not calling you a liar but I don't get spun up in high school sports. I've been to less than 10 games in 15+ years. I always pull for them but If I go to a game anymore, it's McCracken since that's where my kid and friends kids will go.

And I knew some would .. It's ok to agree to disagree.. I have watched Owensboro play and while they have a pretty athletic team, I don't think they have the team speed that Mayfield does and I don't think they're near as balanced offensively.. I think OB Cath has better balance than Owensboro and is superior throwing the ball.. In the trenches is where the Devils have the advantage over the Aces..

He was.. He got hurt around Week 7 or 8 I think. He would have made a huge difference if he had been able to play against Murray last year. He would have changed the dynamic of that game tremendously last year because they have/had no one that could match up with him in man.

Listened to the Homers podcast. Not getting much respect from the announcers. Both have Mayfield losing , one by 14. They seem to think Mayfield doesn't respect OC. I'm beginning to think its the other way. Time for a trip to the woodshed.

 

I'll echo what Devils58 said, by saying I have ultimate respect for who and what Mayfield is. What that program has accomplished is amazing. Us west KY folks have to stick together!! If I'm being honest, up until 3-4 weeks ago I figured that Mayfield would the wall that Catholic would be unable to climb, even if they got past Murray. That still may be the case. Since then, I've really dug into the teams and I'm just giving an honest unbias prediction of what I think will happen. I think Catholic is the better team. I see a team that has everything it takes to win a state title. We're about to find out if I'm right or I'm wrong. Either way, good luck to both sides. Enjoy it, it's an awesome time of year for HS Football fans!
