This should be the most relaxed game that OC has played in 4 years for the simple reason they finally have gotten past Murray. To me all the pressure is on Mayfield, moving up in class, playing their first 2A playoff opponent that wont back down, haven't lost a home playoff game in forever. Those things can weigh on the mind a little bit and wait until Shamari Morton zips by you like a waterbug on water(and he will) and you realize you may not have anybody on the team to keep up with him or RZ3 throws a 70 yard dart on the money and then you realize all the qb's you have played against aren't as good as his then maybe Mayfield may step back and blink a little. Doesn't mean they will lose but you never know> Guess we will find out Friday night! I just hope this game lives up to the hype! Can't wait to see it! Good Luck to both teams for a safe night!

 

That may happen, but Mayfield wont blink, that's why we win games. Lets see what happens when RZ gets picked once or twice, then well see who blinks.

The biggest advantage for OC is the QB and #3 but the Cards have #22 and a advantage at the coaching position and these to me should be the key to the MF win. I think having the best back in 2A pays huge dividends in this one

Got the feeling Friday night is going to be the start of a great rivalry in 2A football going forward. I know Mayfield has a few standout juniors and some younger lineman but are they pretty senior heavy on defense? OC has a good mix of seniors but will have contributors back next year as well.

OC has actually seen faster speed than Mayfield.... in the form of the Owensboro Red Devils and probably even North Hardin. I agree Mayfield has very good team speed but not elite team speed like OHS.

Garner and Morton are faster then anyone mayfield has. So they see faster scout team guys then mayfield.

One thing about Coach Edge, he has had his teams ready for road games in the playoffs. Especially the Micah Johnson years in ft Campbell when they were unstoppable. OC hasn't played mayfield since the early 90s, before any of these kids were before, so they won't be intimidated. This group thinks they are the team to beat. After the Murray game which should have been 48-7, I think they are

 

The Ft. Campbell days were more a product of having great players, not the coaching. Im not saying the coaches weren't any good, but I don't see where that has any bearing on this Friday. And I don't know what evidence suggests this current HEAD coach always has his teams ready for road playoff games. What are his signature road playoff wins? Not having played Mayfield before doesn't guarantee a clear head coming into this game. The fact that Mayfield has always handled a team (Murray) that OC couldn't beat until now might carry some weight though.

 

And whats the deal with OC fans and bringing up past games and what the score SHOULD HAVE BEEN. When talking about this years Owensboro, Daviess, and Murray (previous playoff games and this years game) games, you guys keep saying "well we made too many mistakes, penalties, dropped passes. We should have won by three more scores." Is the other team ever just better than you? Or play a better game?

I'm pretty sure Coach Edge has several signature road playoff wins... Anyone that has played OC in the past 10 years will agree he gets more with less talent than any coach around our area. Also, a product of great players??? Coach Edge is the only coach on staff that is a teacher and even works in the building... Also, 75% of the kids on the team participate in other sports ( Yes OC has pretty good programs in other sports than just Football). I know the Mayfield coaching staff has alot of rings under their belt and is a great staff but if OC loses on Friday it will not be due to being outcoached. I can promise you that!
