  1. I think he is questioning commitment of players and the responsibility of parents to set a good example.
  2. This article is getting tons of attention in Henderson. Thought I would share and please share your thoughts! PATTON: Fall break is all about me
  3. Would love to see the Aces come out strong but I think Mater Dei will be too tough 35-7 Mater Dei
  4. Mark Higgs Owensboro I watched him run 80 yards for a TD against Henderson County with only one shoe on!
  5. He was fabulous until he met the Henderson County Colonels in the playoffs! Greatest game ever played at the old Colonel Stadium!
  6. 1976 4A State Championship Louisville Trinity 28 Henderson County 24 Henderson City and County high schools had merged that year producing the greatest team in Henderson County football history! Clear cold day with a good amount of snow and ice left on the bleachers( I think they cleaned off the Trinity side not the Henderson side), all scoring took place in the 1st half as the Colonels jumped out to a 24-14 lead. Trinity responded and lined up for a tying field goal with about :30 left until the half. Jim Campbell TE came onto the field and every Henderson County fan was screaming watch for the fake but Mojo Hollowell didn't defend it and the Shamrocks threw a TD and went up 28-24 at the half. The Colonels got close only once in the second half but fumbled the ball at the Shamrock 10 yard line. I think that was as close as any team got in the 2nd half. Colonels ended the season 14-1 and I think Trinity went undefeated at 15-0. I remember Trinity had given up only 29 points all year and Henderson scored 24 on them early. A great team that just came up short.
  7. Damion Carter from Henderson Co. Anybody know if he is going anywhere?
  8. Then obviously you pay no attention to youth sports.
  9. That's a good read! I think we are getting away from the reason this post was started was about the coaching situation at Henderson. I watched them a few times last year and one thing I noticed was they played with absolutely no passion for the game. Once they got behind by a touchdown you could pretty much call the game because they did not have a fire to compete. Only when they played mediocre competition did they show up. I was at the Memorial game and the Memorial QB was lighting them up early with his passing, the other game I watched was on TV and the defense just laid down and let Gibson Southern run wild. Both good teams Gibson Southern had an excellent year last year but Henderson should never be beaten that bad! That is a failure on the part of the coaching staff all the way down to youth football for not preparing these kids to play at a high level when they reach high school. Soccer is killing football and basketball in Henderson and I'm not sure if youth football isn't hurting the situation also. Most kids that play contact football at an early age just get tired of it by the time they reach high school. Peyton Manning said he didn't play contact football until he was 13 just 7 on 7. Whoever they bring in they must be able to get a feeder system together that works and get athletes on the football field and off the couch, plus the athletic department at Henderson has to be willing to allow kids to play more than one sport without it hurting their playing time!
  10. I've never heard a coach refer to it as a formation only an offense so I guess they know what they are talking about
  11. The spread offense is an offensive scheme in American and Canadian football that is used at every level of the game including professional (NFL, CFL), college (NCAA, NAIA, CIS), and high school programs across the US and Canada. Spread offenses typically place the quarterback in the shotgun formation, and "spread" the defense horizontally using three-, four-, and even five-receiver sets. Many spread offenses also employ a no-huddle approach. Some implementations of the spread also feature wide splits between the offensive linemen. Many spread offenses use the read option running play to put pressure on both sides of the defense. Spread offenses also leverage vertical (down field) passing routes to spread the defense vertically, to open up multiple vertical seams for both the running and passing game.
  12. Should have given it to Josh Boston! He is doing great things at Union Co. Lewis resigns as Henderson?s football coach
  13. This should be the most relaxed game that OC has played in 4 years for the simple reason they finally have gotten past Murray. To me all the pressure is on Mayfield, moving up in class, playing their first 2A playoff opponent that wont back down, haven't lost a home playoff game in forever. Those things can weigh on the mind a little bit and wait until Shamari Morton zips by you like a waterbug on water(and he will) and you realize you may not have anybody on the team to keep up with him or RZ3 throws a 70 yard dart on the money and then you realize all the qb's you have played against aren't as good as his then maybe Mayfield may step back and blink a little. Doesn't mean they will lose but you never know> Guess we will find out Friday night! I just hope this game lives up to the hype! Can't wait to see it! Good Luck to both teams for a safe night!
  14. Its Friday the 13th OC vs. Murray! Zuberer's number is 13 so I feel the stars are aligning for an OC win!
  15. It does seem that way! Crazy thing is he caught just about everything thrown to him during the season, his junior year he caught a long pass against Butler and broke his leg on the play and still hung onto it. As Dandy Don Meredith used to say if if's and buts were candy and nuts then everyday would be Christmas!
  16. Edge and loose in the same sentence! That's funny! He always looks like he is about to blow a gasket every play! Heck of a coach can break down video better than anyone. Aces need to stretch the field a little early on to open up the middle for the run and short passing game. Get the ball to Morton across the middle and let him do what he does best.
  17. It will still come down to turnovers! No turnovers OC should win, turnovers they won't. It is no different than it was last year. These last 2 years OC is practically the same maybe a little better on defense this year but offensively they are the same. A little down in the scoring department. RZ3 threw way more Td's last year and the running game stat wise isn't much different, last year they had 2 RB's this year they have one. TD's and yardage totals are about the same. I remember last year the players I talked with said the coaching staff was tight all week and it trickled down to the players and showed during the game.
  18. The defense is much better than last year, offense seems about the same. Zuberer did throw the ball a lot more last year for more TD's. Defense will play tough against Murray just hoping the offense can cut down on the turnovers. They will have Morton this time! Go OC!
  19. Owensboro Catholic is almost a mirror image of where they were at this time last year, statistics and scoring. Now they go into that part of the season where its running clock time until the playoffs. It would be so good for the team to have a playoff contender down the stretch to play to get ready for the playoffs. Blow out games can't be good for the offense or the defense. It is what is with the weak district they are in plus playing the city schools leaves only 2 games to schedule. I was hoping North Hardin would be a good matchup but they aren't looking very good so far. Go Aces!
  20. Didn't know if this had been posted yet, any thoughts on who wins? I think this will wrap up the district for whoever wins.
