I believe Scott made adjustments they kept going to the well so to speak with a "trap" play that we couldn't stop in the first quarter they did adjust to that particular play they must have ran it 15 times for huge gains.

But Scott also made some huge defensive stops and buckled down in the second half .

Norse1 couldn't have said it better!!! This regime doesn't stop they keep coming. They showed a lot of heart and have been in this spot before , the Holy Cross game comes to mind where the Eagles were down by two scores and they kept fighting and pulled that game out as well !

I just don't believe Ashland was the better team, especially without Baker. No way of knowing what would have happened with him. But while you say Ashland did a lot wrong, Scott did a lot right. It seems like you're saying that Scott only eon because Ashland made mistakes, not because Scott did well.

One other thing, Scott dominated special teams play. Ashland doesn't have a kicking game, at all. Seay did have a XP blocked from Scott though. However, he pinned Ashland deep on three kickoffs where Scott's faster athletes were able to pin the ball inside the 15. On the one Ashland broke Seay ran him down. Thurza also had a punt Scott pinned inside the 5 with about ten minutes left.

 

There was no chance Ashland was going to go 80-90 yards on drives against the Scott defense. Their scoring was basically one big play, one 40 yard drive, and a Scott turnover.

 

I know Scott is missing Pleasant, but having everyone else back and healthy ( had few kids not play last week after physical loss to SK) is really going to make them a tough out, especially at home.

Playing stars in a meaningless game is what cost Ashland the season. I watched Ashland in person this season and they didn't pass the look test without Baker carrying the ball. Congrats to Scott though. They took care of business.

Same he has great potential. Wouldn't doubt a school like Mississippi State trying to slide in and steal him away from Marshall come February

Congratulations to the Eagles! This is an awesome win for their program and could help launch continued success and growth for football at Scott.

 

I have doubted Scott could get a win like this and they proved to me they could. I did say in the prediction thread that without Baker for Ashland playing that Scott could get the upset and they sure did.

 

Next week is another challenge. The Eagles have earned the opportunity to prove the doubters wrong again. No one will be picking Scott to beat Johnson Central. The one thing Scott has going for them in that one is history. Johnson Central hasn't been able to get over the N. Ky. hurdle. Is Scott good enough to continue what Highlands and Covington Catholic have done to JC over the years? Tune in next week to find out.

I obviously didn't attend the game, and listened sparingly. I read in the paper this morning that Ashland's Kurtlen Brown rushed for 135 yards in the 1st quarter when Ashland went up 18-0. Now someone said earlier that Scott really didn't make any adjustments when I credited the Scott coaaching staff for making the right adjustments to help Scott come back, and win the game. It seems to me that they definitely made some sort of adjustment to slow down Brown and the Ashland rushing attack the last 3 quarters. Can anyone that attended the game comment on what the difference was for the Scott defense the last 3 quarters?

 

First play from scrimmage, Brown had a 60ish yard run. I think he also had one other run over 20 yards. Otherwise he was pretty well contained. Ashland really only had one sustained drive the whole game which ended with a pick. Aside from the Rowan game, Scott has done a good job stopping the run.

TAYLOR MILL - For 21 minutes and 57 seconds Friday, Ashland's football team seemed headed for a third Class 4A playoff game.

 

The Tomcats had scored 18 points against Scott in the first quarter.

Then — season over. Scott scored 28 unanswered points for its 28-18 win and a date with Johnson Central.

 

Ashland (9-3) lost for the fourth time in three years to a Northern Kentucky team largely by its own doing. The Tomcats lost two fumbles and threw three interceptions.

 

“Offense was playing well, defense was playing well,” Ashland coach Tony Love said. “It was one of those things where momentum started to slide from us. We tried to get a hold of it, and turnovers just cost us … (Scott) did a great job of controlling the ball and working the clock.”
