The issue I have is when I hear a team "gave it away", or "didn't want it as much" or any other such excuse that implies the team that won isn't very good or didn't deserve to win. That to me is slighting the team that won. Scott suffered from turnovers and penalties in the first half. But at that point the dialogue wasn't that Scott was giving the game away, but that Ashland was just better than Scott.

I have said back in spring and early summer . I think the Eagles have a shot of going undefeated in district and deep in playoffs. I even said what are the chances they fight for a state title. I still stand by my pre season prediction . This team is under everyones radar . They have the potential to be the dark horse in 4A.

When is the last time Ashland beat a NKY team in the playoffs?

 

Last year when they beat Holmes 49-14. Now if you meant beat a NKY team on the road in the playoffs you'd have to go a long ways back I believe.

 

I did a little research and I think the answer is either 1975 or 1976. Ashland defeated Dixie Heights on the road in the 1st round of the 4A "At Large" playoffs in '75. They beat Boone Co. in the 1st round in '76, but it doesn't say who the home team was.

Baker played at the end of the game and i do believe was thrown out in the final minute or so. No idea what the reason was, as I don't believe there was ever a penalty involved. What he did to get thrown out I have no idea, it wasn't explained on the radio or in the newspaper. Had no business being put in the game while injured anyway, IMO.

Putting a kid in hurt is really really poor decision making by the coach...That being said and in all seriousness was he the one that tried to stop the clock by faking a injury? I thought it was a lineman,but that's the only thing I saw that could of caused getting tossed out

No, the incident your talking about didn't involve Baker. I know what incident your talking about but I can't say whether the kid "faked" an injury or not, I was just listening on the radio.

 

But yes, I agree that it was a poor decision to play Baker at the end. Obviously he was still injured or he would have played from the beginning. Also he wasn't fully dressed, which shows that there was no intention in playing him due to being injured. But apparently he wanted to play and suited up using a teammates pants and pads. For whatever reason the coaches decided it was ok to take that chance. But no, I don't agree with it one bit.
