To Scott's credit, Pleasant didn't play either. This time of year, the teams that play best together win. Plain and simple. With or without your best players. Great season Ashland but couldn't be happier for Scott.

WOW ... This one really shocks me. Hate to see the fin season Ashland had come to an end.

Turnovers and major penalties. To Scott's credit the allowed a couple of turnovers early that helped Ashland break open the 18-0 lead. Ashland failed to capitalize on that and extend the lead.

 

Instead they gave up major penalties that lead to points scored, along with turnovers that put Scott in scoring position.

 

To be honest, its hard to take much from this game. IMO, neither team played a good game. I could go in and on about what Ashland did wrong, but I'll leave it alone, I'm proud of those kids.

 

But in the grand scheme of things, after watching Ashland and JC go to war in the district game, I would be surprised if JC doesn't win this one going away.

 

I just don't believe Ashland was the better team, especially without Baker. No way of knowing what would have happened with him. But while you say Ashland did a lot wrong, Scott did a lot right. It seems like you're saying that Scott only eon because Ashland made mistakes, not because Scott did well.

I seriously doubt it, Ashland played bd tonight. I'll give Scott credit, they capitalized on Ashlands mistakes. But I seriously doubt JC has any issues beating them.

Thanks for the backhanded compliment. Of course this game was all about what Ashland did wrong, not what Scott did right. Scott's early turnovers that led to Ashland TD's (one of which was simply the ball slipping out of the Qb's hands, not caused by any hit) was just a case of Ashland being Really good and the better team. But when Scott cashes in on a couple mistakes, it's Ashland making mistakes.

 

Scotts passing game was pretty big. Converted a big 3rd and 18 (a spot they were in because of penalties) that kept a scoring drive alive, and the 4th and goal from the 6 TD pass that iced the game. They can throw if they need to, and Ashland inability to throw and defend the passing game when they had to was a big difference in this game. Scott was the bigger, more physical team, and they simply wore Ashland down in the second half.

Congratulations to coach Wooley and the rest of the Scott staff , I must give credit where it is due , Wooley called a helluva game in that second half !!

Now someone said earlier that Scott really didn't make any adjustments when I credited the Scott coaaching staff for making the right adjustments to help Scott come back, and win the game. It seems to me that they definitely made some sort of adjustment to slow down Brown and the Ashland rushing attack the last 3 quarters. Can anyone that attended the game comment on what the difference was for the Scott defense the last 3 quarters?

Turnovers un timely ones along with not being able to get off the field on 3rd down lost Ashland the game. Credit to the Eagles they wanted it more.

I believe Scott made adjustments they kept going to the well so to speak with a "trap" play that we couldn't stop in the first quarter they did adjust to that particular play they must have ran it 15 times for huge gains.

The majority of those yards was off one run. I don't think they made many adjustments. The big difference this year to the last few years is in the past Scott would implode when down by 3 td's. This year they have confidence. This senior class is the first of the "new era" so to speak. So really I think the adjustment was more psychological then anything else ... They never panicked.
