November 11, 201510 yr These rankings mean absolutely nothing to me as far as the actual seeds go, all they show me is which teams the committee feels control their own destiny. Notre Dame is clearly one of those teams. They have Clemson #1 and ND's only loss is to Clemson and it was a pretty close game. But outside of that they have one win over a currently ranked team. 1 WIN and its to Navy! Iowa now has 2 AND they are undefeated, let that sink in. The fact that the committee feels that Notre Dame has to control their own destiny is absolutely mind boggling. They have yet to play Stanford, who, IMO, is currently the most dangerous team in the country right now because absolutely no one talking about them and they are good, I mean really good. Stay up to watch the first half of one of their games and I assure you, you will be impressed way more than you are with ND. If the committee is clearly waiting on Ohio State to play Michigan State and Michigan and for Baylor to play someone with a pulse, which I have 0 problem with, they can certainly wait on Notre Dame to play Stanford in order for them to prove something. I understand that these rankings mean very little if anything at all, but if this ranking shows that the committee views ND in this high regard without actually proving anything, that's a scary thought.

ND has wins over # 14 Georgia Tech, #21 Temple, Pittsburgh, Texas, USC, Virginia, Navy and UMass. Ohio State would lose in half thoughs games.

November 11, 201510 yr So why is your problem just with Notre Dame? Shouldn't Iowa be ranked ahead of Ohio State as well? Afterall they have 2 more wins against ranked teams than Ohio State does at this point in the season. It appears that you feel that Iowa should be ranked ahead of Notre Dame, however, I can understand why the committee would disagree. These teams have had a common opponent this season. Iowa needed a last second FG to defeat Pitt at home 27-24. On the other hand Notre Dame defeated Pitt on the road 42-30 and the game really wasn't as close as the final score suggest. Notre Dame lead 42-17 up until the final minutes of the game. The last score came off of a fumble return by Notre Dame's backup QB who would have been third string if not for injuries. I'm might be biased but I don't think it is unreasonable to feel that Notre Dame is better than Iowa. You may not respect Navy, but they're ranked higher than one of those ranked teams that Iowa beat, and only two spots lower than the other one.
November 11, 201510 yr You can't honestly believe Ohio State would lose half of those games. They lost to VT last year.
November 11, 201510 yr They lost to VT last year. That also happened last year. They also beat VT this year. Beat Navy last year. Beat Bama. Beat Oregon. Smacked Wisconsin. Beat MSU. 22 game win streak, and only 3 losses in 50 games since Urban has been HC and still can't get respect.

Compare overall strength of schedule. It doesn't matter anyway. Iowa will get in if they beat OSU.

November 11, 201510 yr Notre Dame is ranked 5th strength of schedule with only loss a two point conversion at Clemson. Ohio State is 56 and Iowa is 57. I would venture to say if Ohio State weren't defending national champions, they wouldn't be ranked top 4 right now either. The good news, this should all sort itself out as many of these teams have a back loaded schedule.

Notre Dame's strength of schedule is 5th in the whole country, but people who don't like Notre Dame like to leave that little fact out haha. Its simple the committee has shown they not only look at what teams people have played, but how they have looked in doing it. Currently Notre Dame has done their part and looked the part too. However I don't think Notre Dame controls their destiny. I do think the committee will have a team or two jump Notre Dame if a few of these teams behind them go undefeated because those teams schedules start to finally get tough. Notre Dame needs a few teams to lose still. The honestly need the Big 12 to have each of its teams lose at least one game.
November 11, 201510 yr You can't honestly believe Ohio State would lose half of those games. You can if your UK fan, I don't even argue with him anymore, I feel sorry for him.
November 11, 201510 yr Still trying to figure out why a Florida State fan is allowed to hold the uk#1fan moniker?
