Notre Dame is an interesting team. This is the most talented Irish team across the roster in some time with loads of depth. They have been decimated by injuries yet have still performed well. The entire Clemson game I easily felt they were the better of the two squads. Then sometimes I watch them and I think they are a fringe top 25 team. Some of that is inexperience.

So let's say Oklahoma runs the table, who gets in? According the committee and everything they have said so far, ND gets in and that's a problem.

Oklahoma lost to Texas, Dude. ND beat the tar out of Texas. They stink, remember?

Dude Ohio State lost to VT last year, how did that work out for them? It's all about how you're playing at the end and right now almost no one is playing better than Oklahoma. Have your loss early in the season and it doesn't matter.

You think so? I saw it the other way. Clemson was always on the verge of going off, they just couldn't in those conditions. I think in good weather, neutral site, Clemson wins 9 out of 10 times.

That and I keep hearing about their out of conference scheduling. From what I have seen their out of conference scheduling is no different than the SEC or ACC teams yet only the BIG 12 is penalized. They beat up on each other like the SEC does but because they beat each other up 51-47 instead of 9-7 they are the castaways. I don't like that at all. 8 playoff teams would be ideal.

Why would you look at teams that were ranked at one point, they obviously weren't that good if they weren't that great. I don't care what some bogus SOS statistic says, ND has played a very average schedule, beating up on some typically good schools who are having bad years. Most years this is a hard schedule, but not this year.

Give me an 11 game regular season, straight into the a 16 team playoff. Take 2 weeks off before the semis. Alot playoff losers to bowl games. The other bowl slots would have been filled.

 

There, you have Finals break built in, so no academic BS arguments (DIII Schools are ok to have their playoffs during Finals week??? but not FCS schools?). Every conference gets representation and you have room for At-large teams.

If anyone on here is truly 100% objective, then they are missing out on the best part of sports (besides actually playing), being a fan of a team. Yes I have my biases, as should we all. Granted I don't agree with a lot of the biases on here mainly the SEC bias, but this site wouldn't be any fun if everyone was objective. Arguing with objective people isn't fun. Arguing with all of you is fun.

Notre Dame has the 5th highest strength of record according to espn FPI. That is one of the many "metrics" the committee is using.

NDs only win over a currently ranked team is Navy. Iowa has beaten Wisconsin and Northwestern who are currently ranked. 2 top 25 wins to 1 and 0 losses to 1. But please let's talk about Notre Dames strong schedule when they beat a bad Texas team, a very, very shaky USC team, a good AAC team in Navy, another good AAC team in Temple oh and the luck they needed to beat Virginia of all teams. But please continue to act like Notre Dame has just been rolling over these great teams, when actuality the only quality team they have played so far, beat them.

 

I'm not acting like anything, I'm asking a question. I haven't paid any attention to who's ranked other than the top 5-6 and I have no idea about either team's strength of schedule.

 

My guess is by the time the final 4 is decided the schedule will have worked itself out anyway.

16 is way too many. 8 is the right number. 5 conference winners, top ranked non power 5 school, and 2 power 5 wild cards.

Who would have thought Texas would have been this unwatchable except for their strike of God win over Oklahoma? These were supposed to be notches in Notre Dames belt and they aren't. ND has 2 games on their schedule to prove they belong and they lost the first one, let's see how the play against Stanford.

Computers say different. It appears you have a ND problem. The committee doesn't have a problem at all with them or Iowa. The problem the committee has is that Oklahoma state has the #2 strength of record and yet Ohio State is in the top 4 instead of them.
