November 1, 201510 yr The knee being down was just the beginning of a series of missed calls on the same play. ESPN analyst said this morning that there were several other violations against Miami on the touchdown run. It's bad enough the review missed the knee being down but when all the other bad decisions are added to it that's terrible. The whole crew should be suspended for the rest of the season and post season.
November 2, 201510 yr The replay guy's punishment IMO should be much more severe than the on field officials. It is one thing to blow a call when it is happening live 100 mph. It is another to botch it when you have a lot of time and can look at instant replays over and over...no excuses for the replay guy IMO.
November 2, 201510 yr I guess I could get on board if it is the last play of the game in certain situations. If the end result is absolute game over, that is the end result. Replay is there to get the call right. Getting the call wrong with rock solid proof to the contrary is a farce any way you slice it...

November 2, 201510 yr Why Miami-Duke finish was craziest ever and never should have counted | Fox News Miami defensive back Corn Elder capped off the 75-yard return by sprinting into the Duke end zone with a convoy. However there was a flag at the Duke 25-yard line for an illegal block in the back. FOX Sports Rules Analyst Mike Pereira said that block was actually a legal block, where the UM player hit the Duke defender on the side, not in the back. However, after studying the tape in replay numerous times, Pereira noted that No. 22 on the 'Canes delivered a clear block in the back at the Miami 15 to help spring the play. "It's Halloween and Duke got tricked," said Pereira. "The replay (booth) got involved and did something they shouldn't have done. The crew used replay to pick up the flag which they can't do." In addition, there are screenshots that show what also seemed like another blown call, where a Miami ball-carrier's knee was down moments before lateraling the ball off.

Should there be a time limit on reversing a decision this egregiously incorrect? The replay official had time to look at it, view that the kids knee was clearly down, and reverse the call. Is that time 5 minutes? An hour? Should there be a way to fix that? The flag cannot be at questioned. Officials huddled and decided it was not a block in the back, a horrible decision but even if it's called there would have been an untimed down, and if this season has shown anything it's that you never know. But in this case, knee clearly down ends game. Should it be reversed? I think not, but interesting thought none the same
November 2, 201510 yr The USA national rugby team, the Eagles, could've used some of these guys in the recently concluded Rugby World Cup in which the USA tied for last out of 20 teams. The knee on the ground still would have been a good pass in rugby.

In this case that would have been from the 8, half the distance from spot of foul. Had they called the penalty on the idiot running down the field without his helmet that would have been another half the distance.

You can't TAKE the penalty and not give the other team a chance to replay the down.
