ACC suspends Officials from the Miami Duke game

Apparently even when the final play was reviewed they still couldn't get it right and now the ACC has taken actions to suspend the officials involved in the Miami Duke game.

I thought when they showed the replay that one played knee was down when he laterals the ball. They reviewed it for over 9 mins and still got it wrong.

Yea. I could see missing it as it occurred, but when you take over 9 mins reviewing the play and still miss the knee down then something had to happen.

I know they can't change the outcome but suspending the officials does absolutely nothing for this situation. Officials get calls wrong all of the time. Suspending them doesn't fix anything. The next group to come in will miss calls too.

I say they should be able to change the outcome in a situation like this. Why not? If it was called correctly then Duke would be the winner anyway. Change the outcome. If you can't then why even have protests in the first place?

Imagine a miss like this in the Championship game and you have a Champion crowned when his knee was clearly down. Conspiracy theories would be every where...payoffs, gambling, League Allegiance every thing would be blamed on the officials making what looks like an intentional mistake by missing those calls.

 

I don't buy into the "You can't change it now" line of thinking. Seeing how his knee went down AFTER the clock went to zero...game over there is no argument. No difference in it taking 9 minutes to get it right or 9 hours.

He is suspended as well.

I guess I could get on board if it is the last play of the game in certain situations.

Agreed. If this was a bigger game this would be headline news. Imagine this happening OSU vs MSU this year. It's going to be interesting what they do this week. If they're openly going to say they made the wrong call that means Duke should have won. Problem is, if they do overturn the game this opens up a HUGE can of worms.
