Former or current ACC head of officials was on with Greg McElroy and Taylor Zarzour this morning. It was he that said what would have happened had they still not reversed the knee down issue and enforced the penalty. Penalty was on 16, half distance and one untimed down. Gotta assume he's right.

That's still a conference game. Now had Duke won out and been a candidate for a Big 6 bowl that could cost them. Assume ACC does revenue sharing so they may not lose a dime

There was no time to run off since it was an untimed down. Time has nothing to do with it at that point. You run one play, the result is a touchback and the game ends. But I don't think it would have been a rekick. It happened on the return so it would be a spot foul.

One correction to my earlier post: Miami would have had one play from about the 8 (half the distance to the goal line from the spot of the penalty) and gotten one play.
