I know of a couple that won state titles this past season with several non-dsitrict kids. Just part of it in today's culture and climate.

Heck, I'd say getting out-of-your-district student-ATHLETES might be the #1 correlative factor among the schools who have traditionally been mainstays in football in each of their classes for the last 30 years.

 

I'd be interested to see a list of all the "perennial power" schools who from 7th to 12th grade pretty much gets only kids districted to their school.

Update on Ballard: Interviewed today, Interviewed Lakunta Farmer, Westport middle school head coach, and Stallings Moore HS head coach. I am not sure that these were the only 3, however this is step 1 of total destruction of a football program.

 

Don't get me wrong, I think Lakunta is a solid candidate, however you cannot tell me these were the 3 best that applied.

Maybe the first 3 of 5 or 6 they will interview. I would say it's not over til the slightly overweight lady sings. LOL

I'd like to see Preston King get a job like that so we could learn more about his talents.

Monroe County's head coach John Petett has stepped down and retired from the Falcons. So there is officially a position open.

It appears that Mark Sander and the Bullitt East HC job are not going to happen. They seem to be going another direction.

I'm curious to see if this happens. Phelps is an unwinnable situation, as sad as it is to say that. I've watched them play a lot of football, and I can't remember the last time they had a team finish higher than 3rd in recent memory. Clearly Joplin did wonders for the program in the 80's but now the circumstances and political landscape have changed. David will have his hands full, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him back in red within 2-4 years if he accepts the job.

In terms of playing in one heck of a facility, close to Lexington, in a community that seems to care about overall athletics, the home of the oldest-most tradition rich bowl game in the state and a decent town of its own? Yes.

 

In terms of graduating what is seemingly everybody from last years team and being paired up with Highlands and Covington Catholic in their region? No.

 

Dan Gooch was there for 11 seasons, a coach who won at Owensboro Apollo more-so if not more than anybody they have ever had, and was only able to have 5 winning seasons at Montgomery. That says something IMO.

 

They do return Alex Harvey who is a very powerful back that went over 1,000 yards last year.

Mike Holcomb has retired and headed back to be an assistant at Breathitt according to some I know.
