Coach John Petett Resigned from Monroe County Today Jan 4.

 

From 2004 to 2015 he won 3 regional championships and brought much recognition to the Falcon Program. Good luck Coach Petett.

For what it's worth, there are a handful of hiring we're waiting to hear final confirmations on, so I'll update the official list once a couple-few of those have come in.

No, I guess it was just rumors being spread.

I dont think Bell knows what they are doing or else no one is foolish enough to go there.

Bell County - Do not be afraid to hire Coach Hilton again, applied or not. It has worked out well for Louisville and Petrino.

 

John Petett - Superintendent better try to presuade him to stay. I am watching across the State the downfall of many rural programs, because the Coach has more community support than the Superintendents and they want them out. The president from Alabama made a great statement - The day we hired Saban our enrollment jumped 212%. I do not think this new Supt at Monroe may realize, just by him staying will make her job much easier.

It's simple. They don't care. John Petett cares, but Monroe Co. schools may not care. Don't get me wrong. They loved it when he won 3 Region Titles, but it's more "what can you do for me John?". It's sad. It's like this at alot of places.

It got to be unreal even seeing that on here.

 

It's hard for most to see, or they see it and don't want to admit it, but if your school has "county" in its name; you better realize really quick that there are going to be years (emphasis on the plural there) where things aren't exactly peachy.

Something else that hurts so many rural county schools is the real chance of jobs suddenly leaving. You can see it in coal country and you see it in small communities that are dominated by factories. If the jobs leave, the families leave. And when the families leave, the talent leaves.

 

But, you really are spot on in that assessment. Any coach at one of these schools can only hope that there is enough of a culture there to sustain the program if there is a lack of talent currently on their roster.

 

It can be a hard road.

Not only do families leave, but no families move in. Without move ins, you lose out on athletes that end up going to regional schools that have more job opportunities.
