I think people slightly overestimate what AD's make...

 

In JCPS it's a near 6K job depending on your years. I know an AD that is making over 100K in JCPS...they released the audit a year or two ago. It pays close to and above 6 figs!

From what I understand and have been told, Holcomb gets it. He knows family is more important than the money and current job.

He has achieved more than he could have ever wanted and I'm sure he is satisfied with his decision he made

That all makes perfect sense. I hope he enjoys retirement. I will have to work until I'm 80 to get there.

I'm hearing Mcpeeks name associated with many of the open jobs. Does he want to leave Georgia?

Didn't you say in an earlier post he wanted to leave Georgia because his wife was unhappy there?

Pay cut to get back into coaching for him. I would say he is making near $90-$100k as AD

Don't think this covers an stipends......but I'm sure a quick search of the JCPS salary schedules should give you a good idea of what the AD stipend is.

AD is a full time job in JCPS. They don't have to teach. Most other counties, it's a part time job where a stipend is combined with a teaching salary.

In JCPS AD's do not teach...anything. Asst. AD's teach. Good friend of mine is the AD at a south end school in Jefferson Co. and has 8 years til he hits 27 years. He makes over 93,000. JCPS published their salaries as part of an audit 2 or 3 years ago and it's right there for the whole lot to see.

Mark probably has very few years in public schools, if any, prior to Iroquois. There are SPED teachers on this list making over 80K. AD's are considered "teachers" but they do not teach, not one single class. The expectation is they handle ALL aspects of athletics for their school. It's been this way for a quite some time. You can see every single JCPS employee on the list...amazing how well they reward years of service with pay!

AD's in Jefferson County are not Administrators. They get teachers pay, then a stipend and then are on a 220 day contract so they get extra days at daily rate. Sander has not been in JCPS that long so his teacher pay is based on his teaching experience. 2-3 years possible. Stipend will range from $5400 in first year to $8000 in 6th year. They also don't teach but are responsible for all athletic fields. Meaning the must mow fields, weed eat, and fix anything that is broken. Plus do all the paperwork for athletics. AD's that make over $100,000 have been in the JCPS system for 20 plus years.

I didn't dispute his salary. The average AD in JCPS is making over 80K...but he would be nuts from a financial standpoint if he plans to stay in public education, to give up a JCPS AD job. I can assure you, it will be long time before he would get another look, they aren't fond of those who leave the district and come back. However, if he still has a passion for coaching, I certainly hope he finds a spot. He's a good ball coach.
