I need some proof that AD's do not teach any classes in JCPS. If that is the case they are wasting a lot of money. I don't know how the state is letting a district with JCPS issues waste money for that. A 6-8 thousand dollar stipend and extended days sounds like truth to me. The only full time AD's I have ever met in this state were at a private schools.

Email a few and ask. It's common knowledge in JCPS. They mow, stock concessions, order equipment, build schedules (if they don't like or trust the coach..lol), day to day activities associated with being an AD. JCPS won't have to answer to the state if they stay in the black, they will continue to pay ridiculous salaries. Have several really good friends who are JCPS AD's, one was at Shawnee and transferred to be the AD at Seneca because he was bored at Shawnee due to lack of sports. FULL-TIME my friend, you can take that to the bank!

If you are an AD and do it right...its more than a full time job. Sounds like JCPS has a good handle on the position.

I would say his interest would be in full time coaching. In JCPS most head coaches I know teach a full schedule. Wolfe can't even take a phone call if it's not his planning. School secretary won't patch the call through. Coach J could probably enlighten us a little on that side of things.

School by school decision in JCPS about whether coaches teach a full load (I do), so it varies. I think more head football coaches in JCPS teach a full load than do not, but I know some don't.

 

If a college coach comes to my school to talk to one of my players, I'll get a call about it from the office and as long as I don't abuse instructional time it's no issue for me not to get a call from the office and for them to be brought up to my class. I try hard to get those coaches to come at the end of the day though. Cell phones today solve a lot of the issues some coaches used to have in this area.

 

It's just like anywhere you coach...some places are more understanding about the time and other demands of a football head coach than others and will try to help you balance your life. Others believe every member of the faculty should have the same schedule teaching-wise or it's not fair.

JCPS AD positions are full time positions @Iam4thecats .....and well deserved.

 

I was an AD @ one of the largest public high schools in the state for several years (not in Jefferson County) teaching a full load & doing the AD work, no extra plan periods for athletics, no extended days, etc..... If you want to feel like a 1-legged man in a rear-end-kicking contest I welcome anyone to give it a go...AND definitely not worth the stipend.

I am an AD in Jefferson County and I would like for you, Iam4thecats, to go spend a week with an AD during the different season and then make the comment, JCPS is not getting what the pay for. My day starts at 6:30 and most of the time it ends at 9pm, later on home football Friday night. I have atleast 6 hours of mowing and that does not count the weed eating the fences. I spend about $2000-$3000 of my own money to fix problems that come up because I don't have any budget money. Most of my sports lose money- officials plus security plus bus subtract gate money from home games. I had a varsity boys soccer game and sold 3 tickets=$15, officials cost $150. I work most weekends and yes, I come in on Sunday a few hours to do paperwork or catch up on mowing. So until you walk a mile or two in my shoes or other AD's shoes please don't make a comment that we are overpaid.

Didn't see Ballard job on JCPS website anymore. And Iriquois has been gone for a while.

Running the Race and Johnny_Utah---- I was always told that being an AD is a thankless job and that the AD is the hardest working person in a building second/third to two others (Head football coach, attendance clerk)

 

Can we get an updated list, I feel like a lot has changed since the middle of last week.
