If Ashland plays defense with a purpose they will be right there at the end.

Echo as others have posted Johnson Central's special teams will be a huge factor and the lack of passing game from Ashland will be a key factor.

I'd be shocked if Q doesn't take one to the house. Shocked!

Statement win coming up for JC....

People around the state have no clue just how good they are because of their unfortunate schedule and a Final Score against LexCath that was wayyy closer than the game actually was.

Can Ashland stop or contain JC's the run game? If so then they may have a chance.

Ashlands run defense has been solid all year. They haven't played a team that runs the ball as well as JC does, but it will be interesting to see how well these two teams can run the ball against excellent run defenses.

I think they can at least slow them down. If JC beats them throwing it so be it. Ashland has a pretty darn good D and when Baker is inserted at safety they get really good. Ashland wants to stop JCs quick strikes and make them drive the ball. JC wants Ashland to do the same thing contain Baker and not let him get loose for quick scores. Should be very interesting to see if Ashland stays so vanilla on offense or they move Baker and company around and try to get him the ball in space. Hard to run inside with 8-9-10 in the box but if Baker can get the corner or throw him the ball some in the flats or decoy him and get Brown more involved could get interesting.

Not gonna happen because the wrong kid is at QB. He has a such a weak arm, No velocity and no distance. You just have so much more options when Braxton is in the game as far as throwing it and he is alot stronger! Just on Friday they had Greenup stacking 10 in the box and still wouldnt throw it because he cant! If they dont mix it up with some passing down field the JC will stack it up and it will be a long night. Q and the Oline can only do so much....

The thing is, Ashland doesn't need a kid with a monster of an arm, they have enough team speed to get big yardage out of short routes. Dowdy needs to be the qb, he throws a good ball. Last week against Greenup he threw a great pass that would have been a TD, but the reciever let the defender rip the ball out of his hands as they were falling to the ground. So instead if a TD, it was an interception.

Ashlands lack of a passing game isn't solely Dowdy or Ratliff's fault. The recievers have to do their job, as does the oc in calling plays that suit the personell at hand. I'm not calling out the coaches, I've been pretty patient this yerlar with that, winning cures a lot of things hah. But IMO, for ashland to establish any type of passing game, it needs to be short routes and let the oline and team speed do the rest.

Ratliff will get his chance and IMO has a ton of potential. But in the grand scheme of things, he's a freshman and has a lot to learn.

I will be cheering for Ashland, but my money is on JC. Baker is the best RB in this area, but play calling is vanilla swirl.

If he leads O'Bryan with the ball it's a TD.

The play I'm talking about the ball looked to be thrown well. The defender was actually forward or the reciever, but yanked the ball away as they were falling. Had the ball been underthrown the Greenup player wouldnt have had a chance to get to the ball without cmiting pass interference.
