I'll give him credit, Ratliff can run. However, it seems like he is a run first, pass second qb. I don't feel that he gives himself enough time for the receivers to get open. He tucks it and runs. JMO

I don't remember him having any runs of consequence this year, maybe Im forgetting something. Dowdy is way faster....

He has picked up a couple of first downs in some games. However, I could pick up a first down after handing off to Backer 9/10 times. Not that that's bad on his part. He had one first down called back early in the season due to a flag. I think it was a 15 yard run. Against Russell, he had a couple good runs. As well, against EC he had a good scramble when he threw a td pass. (A side note, I thought he was past the line of scrimmage). Now, I will say that I just prefer Dowdy as the starter. I think he handles himself better on the field. Very direct in his decision making. Just saying.

IMO at qb this year, Dowdy gives Ashland the best chance to win. As such, I think he should get all of the snaps. No knock on Ratliff, I think he has a ton of potential and he will get his chance to show it in the future. But IMO he doesn't offer anything that Dowdy doesn't offer. He may have a stronger arm, but the trade off is that he isn't as accurate. Ashland doesn't need to throw the deep ball anyway, with the athletes they have short routes will do. Ratliff will have his chance to shine in the coming years, but I've never liked rotating qb's through out games.

I can't tell you whether or not it will be a closer game this year. But the oline and defense is on this Ashland team is much improved over last years team. Baker is also stronger and faster. The oline improvement is the big difference in my mind. But you gotta give their defense credit too, its much better than the rest of the state would like to admit, especially the run d.

It all started last season in that last game against FTH. Ashland played with them and had a chance to win. Coach Love turned over the D to Tackett in that game and permanentally this year. Their D is at times outstanding. On Offense Love has worked exclusively with the OL and seems to have made them a much better unit this year. It doesn't hurt having 2 D1 players either 1 of which is a Mr. Football candidate and is much stronger this season and faster then anyone Ive ever seen in High School. Kid at times reminds me of Barry Sanders. It may be a blowout but this group believes they can play with and beat JC and are 8-0. We will see how it goes but if they play with the heart they showed early on this season, I for one think some JC fans are going to be in for a shock.

Cool. Thanks for that. It's been discussed that the elements of timing are not accurate and that realistically he dies not have 4.2 speed. But if in fact he does have 4.3 speed and excellent field vision would that change your mind any? Or are you just a hater?

Watch his highlights. It was electronically timed in Indy at a Football camp this summer. JC has a great chance if they keep him from getting past the line of scrimmage if he gets to the 2nd level very often their chances go way down because no one will catch him.

Noah Frisby has extreme interest by Purdue at TE (will likely get offer this off season as he is just a Junior). Bryce Workman has several offers from NAIA schools, no D1 as of today. The King brothers have been offered by a few NAIA as well. The younger guys like Tyrese Allen will likely play NAIA to D1 as well.

Q is likely the fastest football player in the state. There is no doubt in my mind that he is the fastest and best RB in the state. You guys can run the numbers all you want and scrutinise him all you want, but in the end, you will realize the kid is fast enough and has good enough vision to score anytime he touches the ball. I'm not being a homer, the kid is just that good.

Also was MVP at that camp, was the fastest time ever recorded at that camp and he just turned 17 in July. Wait till he gets on a college weight program and a few years older.
