They could take a kid off the middle school team and make him a QB with Baker in the backfield and they'd be where they're at right now anyways

 

But the freshman if he is still there next year they will start to build around him, even though Dowdy will be a senior the future of the team is that QB and I'm sure Dowdy is more than capable of playing WR/RB.

To me it looked like OBryan had to slow down and try to make a play on the ball. The defender was beaten but was able to catch up and get his arm between OBryan's and when they went to the ground he ended up with it.

Exactly how I saw it.

I was in the endzone at the time but my attention was elsewhere until the play was in motion and the ball was in the air. I may have missed something.

No two coaches would do the same thing with personnel and we don't have the privilege of seeing all that goes on. That being said i think Ashland is 8-0 at this point no matter who played QB and I don't think teams that are run only fare well against JC. Belfry got beat 35-0 last year and won the 3A title. Also Greenups only TD drive was via the air. This and the probable second one are the games that Ashland has to win and I believe they have reduced their odds. Maybe the fact that Baker is so special is enough. We will see.

No I don't! Trust me I wasn't meaning anything by it. I'm pretty sure his grandpa became the baseball coach just this year (or someone of relation) and that's how he got to Ashland and coaching changes happen all the time is all I assumed,

Correct. Johnny Lemaster is his grandfather who took the Ashland baseball job, but I dont see them leaving anytime soon. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the QB's father also got a job in the Ashland school district as an educator. Verity Middle (sp.) I believe.

Johnson Central is the favorite based on the recent success they have had. I can't help but think that this Ashland team is the same team that had the ball down 1 possession it's 6 minutes to go against eventual state champ Highlands on the road last year. They own a victory over the 2nd ranked WV large school this year. I don't know what clicked with these kids but I feel they are better than most would think.

I agree 100% Backspin. Ashland doesn't get enough credit for that win over George Washington. GW had tons of talent at the skill positions, but Ashland made big play after big play, as did GW, but in the end Ashland handed them their only loss of the season.

 

Most on here don't know anything about GW, so that win goes unnoticed by most on here. But I'm okay with that, I'm not the kind of guy that needs a pat on the back to make me feel good about myself. I feel like the kids on this team would share that sentiment. So for now, they should just embrace the underdog role as most around the state don't think they have a chance to beat JC or SW. No matter what happens from here on out, this is a special group of kids and IMO, the sky is the limit for them.
