No I don't! Trust me I wasn't meaning anything by it. I'm pretty sure his grandpa became the baseball coach just this year (or someone of relation) and that's how he got to Ashland and coaching changes happen all the time is all I assumed,

 

Ratliffs Grandfather is the baseball coach, his Dad is the freshman basketball coach.

Correct. Johnny Lemaster is his grandfather who took the Ashland baseball job, but I dont see them leaving anytime soon. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the QB's father also got a job in the Ashland school district as an educator. Verity Middle (sp.) I believe.

 

 

9th grade Algebra my son has him and is his Basketball coach.

Every team Ashland lost to last season they have beaten and besides GW beaten badly. JC only one left. OL is vastly improved over last season but this will be their biggest challenge of the season so far. I think this game stays close and a defensive struggle. GW is a darn good team and that W will help them out more this Friday then any other.

I know it's difficult to compare schools, but George Washington's only loss is to Ashland. Last week they beat Capital, which was previously #1 in West Virginia until Cabell Midland beat them. GW beat Capital worse than Cabell Midland did, and Cabell Midland is now the current #1 team in West Virginia. We all know how bad they beat Belfry.

I don't know how to feel about this one. My heart wants to think it will be close and that Ashland can win, but Im not so sure. I think that the 1st quarter will determine the game. If its close at the end of 1, then it will be close all the way. If JC comes out and is up 14-0, then its lights out. I don't think Ashland can play from behind. Obviously JC will key on Q, but if you have watched Ashland over the last few weeks they have been running out of different formations....I assume that will continue this week. Will it work? Who knows. I think JC can pass some, and that scares me, I think the Ashland DB's on man coverage will be burned. Baker and Brown will play a lot of defense Friday and could sure up the secondary. Surely Ashland will come out disciplined with no dumb penalties. Except for a few meaningless INT's that Tomcats take care of the football, Im not sure if JC puts its on the ground or not. I think it will be a defensive battle, I'm glad Ashland has the games best homerun threat.

Just curious, not knocking the kid, but why would he be the better option? I have seen him play and he looks very inconsistent throwing the ball.

 

Just because he can actually Throw the ball and more than 15 yards. Dowdys throws are just so weak and he simply just cant get the ball there. I do think Dowdy has done a good job managing the offense this year tho and has done better than I expected. Braxton is also alot harder to bring down.

Ratliff does have a stronger arm, but in my opinion the offense seems to struggle more overall when he is in the game. And to be honest, he hasn't exactly lit it up running or throwing when he has played this year.
